Israel Demands UK Act on ‘Toxic Wave of Antisemitism

The UN should demand that Israel stop its toxic genocide of Gaza and the Palestinian people. Israel is so phony and insincere. Their extremist policies are absolutely repulsive.

I've said it many times before and I'll say it again. It is of extreme importance to differentiate between people protesting against Israel's approach to this war in Gaza, and antisemitism. They are two completely different things, however Israel is an extremely thin skinned nation, and very intolerant of any sort of criticism. As a Jew I know that many Jews are thin-skinned when it comes to any sort of criticism of Israel, and it's often interpreted as being anti-semitic. I've been called a Jew hater for criticizing Israeli policy so I know how sensitive the issue can be, and it's very important to interpret it correctly. Jews and all people have the right to be critical of Israeli policy, especially now that the extremists have taken over gotten the support of a hateful PM, and are engaging in what could be called a ridiculously disproportionate campaign against the Gazans.

Israel must be very careful at this point as they are losing support around the world, by the day it's gotten to the point where there are very few nations who are still supportive of Israel, and the IDF, and even the US is considering withdrawing some support. That would put them in dire straits, and very isolated. But, they deserve that, in my opinion.

Israel's leadership is morally bankrupt, and they have weaponized criticism against them by branding it a form of anti-semitism, which is so repugnant, and wrong on so many levels. They have completely lost the plot.

  • Unfortunately it is Israel itself that is fueling anti-Semitism.

Killing children might be a good reason.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance explains the difference between legitimate criticism of Israel and antisemitism very well.  I have placed the parts especially relevant to Israel in bold blue text.  Sometimes the criticism of Israel  on AN does cross the line into antisemitism, but the Mods catch and hided most of it.

The IHRA working definition of antisemitism:

Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.

Manifestations might include the targeting of the state of Israel, conceived as a Jewish collectivity. However, criticism of Israel similar to that leveled against any other country cannot be regarded as antisemitic. Antisemitism frequently charges Jews with conspiring to harm humanity, and it is often used to blame Jews for “why things go wrong.” It is expressed in speech, writing, visual forms and action, and employs sinister stereotypes and negative character traits.

Contemporary examples of antisemitism in public life, the media, schools, the workplace, and in the religious sphere could, taking into account the overall context, include, but are not limited to:

  • Calling for, aiding, or justifying the killing or harming of Jews in the name of a radical ideology or an extremist view of religion.
  • Making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing, or stereotypical allegations about Jews as such or the power of Jews as collective — such as, especially but not exclusively, the myth about a world Jewish conspiracy or of Jews controlling the media, economy, government or other societal institutions.
  • Accusing Jews as a people of being responsible for real or imagined wrongdoing committed by a single Jewish person or group, or even for acts committed by non-Jews.
  • Denying the fact, scope, mechanisms (e.g. gas chambers) or intentionality of the genocide of the Jewish people at the hands of National Socialist Germany and its supporters and accomplices during World War II (the Holocaust).
  • Accusing the Jews as a people, or Israel as a state, of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust.
  • Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations.
  • Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.
  • Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.
  • Using the symbols and images associated with classic antisemitism (e.g., claims of Jews killing Jesus or blood libel) to characterize Israel or Israelis.
  • Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.
  • Holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel.

Avoid the type of  highlighted comments and you avoid antisemitism.

Those two points are not necessarily anti-semitic.  Whilst I agree it's wrong to deny Jewish people their right to self-determination, we do have to remember however, Israel IS a racist endeavour, it's already been stated by many organisations that Israel practices apartheid.

The Nazis undertook Genocide, accusing Israel of Genocide is not anti-semitic.

The Nazis had concentration camps, isn't that what Gaza is?

The Nazis changed borders by force, Israel has done that.

None of these statements are anti-semitic.

I am Jewish I grew up in South Florida where there was a lot of animosity towards Jews I was treated as an outcast so I know what it's like to face discrimination and prejudice.

I will double down on my assertion that there is a huge gulf between most forms of anti-semitism, and most criticism of Israeli government policy, when it's of a genocidal and extremist nature.

I have bad news for you.

In case you didn't notice, the US has been backing Israel's policies for who knows how long.

Maybe Trump might the first president to change things.

So far he's been incredibly supportive of Israeli genocide and extremist policy, and has contributed billions toward the annihilation of the Gazan and Palestinian people.

Let's see if he's the peacemaker that he constantly talks about being.

The USA has sent at least $21.7B in military aid to Israel since 7/10/2023

But mike was blaming Trump. This policy has been in place for many years.

And if Trump starts fighting with the bureaucracy that has been in place for decades to stop sending aid, everyone will cry that he's a dictator.

Sorry, I apologise, I misunderstood, you’re right the policy has been in place for decades.

I hope Trump does change that policy.  He has a year to show he’s earned the Nobel Peace Prize.
