Is it possible for an underage foreigner to undergo HRT in Thai

Featured Replies

Is it possible for an underage foreigner to undergo HRT if their parents are not in Thailand?

As far as I know most Thai healthcare services require parental consent if you are a minor and want to transition but my parents are not in Thailand so I have been wondering how the consent can be given if parents are abroad, is it even possible at all?

I have four following questions that I couldn't find any answers by researching online, possibly because they are quite specific to my situation.

1. Do Thai healthcare services accept foreign minors for HRT care? If yes, what documentation is required from the parents?

2. Does parental consent need to be from both parents, or is one sufficient? Does it need notarization, embassy legalization, scanned copy, etc?

3. If parents are abroad and cannot be present, can consent be given by video, written letter, email?

4. What documentation is required if the consent is given by a guardian instead of parents?

Thanks in advance.

Why don't you ask a hospital?

Googling:

Burmrungrad Hospital, probably the best hospital catering to foreigners in Thailand, has its Pride Clinic specializing in gender affirmation, link

https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/centers/pride-clinic

Call them or just show up with your id/documents and see how it goes. They'll know the rules and Burmrungrad staff mostly speak English.

@GammaGlobulin this the health section, where posters seek advice, not your trolling nonsense.

Understood.

Sorry.

Ask different hospitals

There is no drug or surgery that will change someones 'sex.'  Gender is performative, it is defined by society, by your own idea of what it means to be a male or female.  Change your own mind, not your body. Don't define yourself based on what other think, look within. Taking drugs or surgery are dangerous and harmful, please avoid.
