A man seen in a viral video violently kicking a cat has been dismissed from his job at the “Jae Leng” beauty store in Bangkok. The company announced his termination following widespread public outrage, while animal welfare group Watchdog Thailand confirmed the cat is safe and recovering from shock.

The incident, which surfaced online on 10 October, showed a man setting up a camera before forcefully kicking a cat, causing it to fall to the ground. The clip quickly drew condemnation across social media, with many users expressing anger over the apparent cruelty. The man was later identified as Mr. Sarusak, a maintenance employee at A & J Beauty Products Co., Ltd., which operates the Jae Leng store.

Following the backlash, the company released an official statement confirming his dismissal, effective 10 October 2025. The statement emphasised that the company “does not condone cruelty towards any living being” and considers such actions “a violation of the organisation’s moral and ethical standards.” It added that any acts by Mr. Sarusak after his dismissal are entirely unrelated to the company.

The firm also expressed regret for the incident, reaffirming its commitment to social responsibility and ethical conduct. “We assure the public that we will take all appropriate measures to uphold our standards and organisational ethics,” the statement said.

In an update, the Watchdog Thailand Foundation reported that the cat, belonging to the suspect’s former partner, was unharmed after receiving veterinary care. The foundation added that the ex-girlfriend will continue to care for the animal, while the man involved faced initial legal proceedings at Don Mueang Court on the same day.

The case has reignited discussion on animal welfare and public accountability in Thailand, with many calling for stronger enforcement of cruelty laws. The company’s swift disciplinary action has been noted by animal rights groups as a positive example of corporate responsibility.
