Trump warns Russia: Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine if war drags on

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE — President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Moscow on Sunday, saying he may send long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine if Russia refuses to end its invasion soon — a move that would sharply escalate U.S. involvement in the war.

“I might say, ‘Look, if this war is not going to get settled, I’m going to send them Tomahawks,’” Trump told reporters while en route to Israel. “The Tomahawk is an incredible weapon — very offensive. And honestly, Russia does not need that.”

The president said he had raised the issue during a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier in the day, adding, “Do they want Tomahawks going in that direction? I don’t think so.”

His remarks followed a fresh Russian strike on Ukraine’s power grid — part of Moscow’s winter offensive against critical energy infrastructure. The Kremlin later said it viewed Trump’s comments with “extreme concern.”

Zelenskyy described his latest conversation with Trump as “very productive,” saying they discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, energy security, and “long-range capabilities.” Asked on Fox News if Tomahawks were approved, Zelenskyy replied, “I’m waiting for president to yes.”

Trump, who has recently hardened his stance toward Vladimir Putin, said last week he had “sort of made a decision” on the missile transfer. A senior Ukrainian delegation is expected in Washington this week for further talks.

Key takeaways:

  • Trump warns he may arm Ukraine with long-range Tomahawks if Russia stalls peace.

  • Kremlin calls the threat “extremely concerning” amid new strikes on Ukraine’s grid.

  • Trump’s tone toward Putin has shifted sharply as Kyiv seeks deeper U.S. support.

Mid August Trump rolled out the red carpet for Putin. Since then - nothing changed.

So how many "warnings" did the Kreml recieve from Trump, whithout any actions taken? TACO number...?!

Putin is destroying infrastructure, hospitals and mainly civilian targets to spread fear and terrorize civilian ukrainian people.

To be clear - the europeans don't do much better either. But I still have hope that things will change.

I'd like to see Ukraine give Moscow a lights-out party on Dec 31, 2025, to ring in the new year.

Sorry, Volodymyr. There won’t be any Tomahawk missiles headed to Ukraine now that president Vladimir Putin of Russia has talked on the phone with president Donald Trump, who called their session ‘very productive.’ What it will produce remains an open question. But it does seem to have resulted in a decision to hold an upcoming summit in Budapest. The bottom line: Putin has outflanked Ukrainian president Zelensky, who will meet at the White House with Trump today.

If I were Zelenskyy,

1   I world not hold my breath waiting for Trump to finally make his mind up.

2   I would not accept the  Tomahawk cruise missiles unless the Ukraine has FULL control including targeting data.

3   Every time you shake hands with Trump, always count your fingers both before and after you shake hands.

4   Never trust a snake oil salesman for anything.
