Sim Cards and Packages for c90 day stay

Featured Replies

We are currently planning to return to Thailand in November for a stay of around 90 days.  In the past, we have gone to Big C and purchased prepaid sim cards from the DTAC outlet and it has generally gone well.

Doing a little light surfing it looks like things have changed a bit since we were last there (early 2024), with packages quite a bit more costly.

Between us, we will need a sim each for our phones, plus a data only sim for internet at the apartment.  We have a router etc there already.  What would your best steers be for the current times?  Both our phones can accommodate e-sims apparently, so that may be an option.  In the past we have stayed with DTAC because we found their coverage fairly stable.

Thoughts anyone?

Personally I would go AIS, but if you are happy with DTAC..

Best to diversify anyway. If you have a problem on one network, you have the other network as a back up.

Cheapest solution overall are 90 day Marathon/Kongkrapan SIM. 590 to 650 baht.

You can order online as eSIM:

https://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/products/ready-sim.html 100GB

https://www.ais.th/en/consumers/package/exclusive-plan/sim-netmarathon-max 50GB

If you want unlimited data for your home router, they all have Unlimited 10Mbps for 481.50

If you want all round packages for your phones, there is the

All together 250

5G internet 10GB (+15Mbps internet speed 45GB per month)

FUP 384Kbps

Unlimited free calls to all networks (15 minutes/call)

Free unlimited AIS WIFI

AIS Play family free

Free internet for the first month (10GB) *777*7673#

Free internet for 2-6 months (20GB) *777*22502#

Automatically renew for 6 months

30 days

250 baht

*777*9284#

Thanks for that.  I'll look into it all.

Catholics won't but these in case they are the original sim.

If there is a Thai person in your family, then https://gomo.th/ by AIS.

259 baht per month for Unlimited 15 Mbps

Thank you .

We have no Thai family members, and we are not interested in anything with a contracted commitment beyond our 90 day stay.  Thanks all the same.

Hopefully your post will be of interest to someone else..

@Maud There is no contracted committment to GoMo. From whence did you surmise that? It is PAYG.

It's currently the best Unlimited deal available. Though, as aforementioned, needs a Thai national to register the SIM.

Thank you .  It looks like I misinterpreted their pricing on the website.

We don't have a Thai national family member, so will bear that in mind.

It may well be that we elect to have a short term Tourist eSim for the first few days then decide in-country when we've checked our hardware there still works etc.
