Do the police need City Hall permission to view CCTV?  That may be the reason they hardly use it till after an event.

Well I don't mean to be sarky with you but they can't use it  before the event. I have a link that gives access to the traffic CCTV system around Pattaya.. not sure if it allowed to post here.

  • OK, City Hall very helpful, but I think you would need a police report to go there, first thing they asked me for   Not going to post the video as I don't want it all over the net

  • Sounds ominously like the OP got hit by a drop bear.   Be careful out there.

  • Unless you pay the right chap in brown uniform, as a falang, chances to get any justice in a road mishap (or even other court litigations)  are close to Nil in Thailand.

If the police viewed CCTV any hour of the day, they would observe 100 traffic infractions every hour: red-light running; encroaching into yellow-shaded boxes; helmetless bikers; speedsters.  If the police hit these danger spots, they would effectively 'teach' drivers how to drive safely, (by warnings or fines.)The UK police did it when seat-belts were 1st introduced and have saved thousands of lives since.

Gee. The train station zone  has been the  high crime, scummy part of the city for at least 50 years.  I  spent a lot of time in Amsterdam in July and August this year and had no issues, but then I stayed in the primarily white and Christian parts of the city. My only problems were with certain non residents, otherwise I had a wonderful safe time walking through ouid zuid to Rembrandtplein to Leidesplein. My  afternoons spent in sunny Vondelpark were a delight. An expensive city, but one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

As a group of 19 year olds the last thing on our mind was afternoons spent in sunny Vondelpark or walking through ouid zuid to Rembrandtplein to Leidesplein

Think the first stop was the Pink floyd coffee shop.
After that who knows? But we were a pair of Nike air max down by noon

100% my fault, trying to get across to the u-turn to go south, an oncoming bike with a Thai couple hit me, I must have miss-read their speed, they both came off as well, I look like I was conscious the whole time, but can't remember anything I saw on the video, a police bike was there also

The couple, looks like the guy got me up and helped me and the cop wheeled my bike across to the side, even looks I was talking to them. Crazy its all a blank.

I am on the left

Hats off to you for fessing up. After viewing the CCTV, some would have been tempted to not update or be vague about the outcome. I can’t see clearly from the picture, but I take it you had a helmet on that potentially saved your life.

I suggest that you do not ride a bike for at least 1-2 months while thing settle down in the old noggin. Likewise, do not do anything that might result in you falling or banging your head.  That is a serious blow, and while you may not be clearly seriously injured, there is probably 'bruising' involved  and you need to let that all settle down.

If you start getting nausea or dizziness, get your butt to a hospital ASAP.  If you are taking Aspirin/Warfarin then go see your DR/GP and ask about stopping it for a while - reduce chances of internal bleeding.  Get a torch each morning and look into a mirror - then shine the torch into your eyes and watch if the pupils dilate and if they do so evenly. If they dont, or one does but not the other does - get your butt to a hospital.

Take it very easy for a while mate.

Thank you, going back for final check at the hospital on Friday, so will talk to them about it, but been fine so far. My normal mad self.

I was very lucky, and also very relieved the Thai couple were ok.

Did you go for your check-up today? Everything ok? Hope so. 👍

Thank you, I will take your advice onboard, everything seems ok so far, I am getting on a bit in age so I seriously need to take care. Been to hospital again  today for final check, and all was good

Will try the  torch test.

Yes, I went down on my back it seems, so helmet definitely saved it from being worse

I ride legally, I have had this current licence 13 years,  fully taxed and insured for this type of accident , thank you

Possibly me, the Mrs first showed it to me six or seven months ago and I may have posted it then.
