Disgraced former prince Andrew allegedly arranged for 40 prostitutes to be brought to his five-star Bangkok hotel during a UK taxpayer-funded trip to Thailand while serving as a UK trade envoy, his biographer has claimed. Royal historian Andrew Lownie made the accusation in a recent interview, stating that multiple credible sources, including a senior Thai official, corroborated the account. The revelation adds to the mounting controversies surrounding Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, who was stripped of his royal titles by King Charles III, following a series of damaging disclosures.

 

Lownie told the Daily Mail podcast Deep Dive: The Fall of the House of York that Andrew’s stay in Bangkok spanned four days and was one of several lavish trips funded by British taxpayers. “There was a famous trip to Thailand… Andrew is representing his country and insists on staying in a five-star hotel rather than the embassy, which he always did,” Lownie said. According to the author, the incident occurred in the early 2000s, when Andrew frequently travelled abroad under the guise of promoting British trade interests.

 

The biographer alleged that the prince used his position to pursue personal pleasures during his tenure as the UK’s trade envoy. “In 2001, Andrew is 41, he’s having his midlife crisis, and he basically starts chasing lots and lots of women,” Lownie said. He added that the royal “always puts in two weeks of private time” on his official trips.

 

Lownie further claimed that key files related to Andrew’s role as trade envoy between 2001 and 2011 remain sealed at the British National Archives. He called for their release, arguing that the continued secrecy amounts to a “conspiracy of silence” around the disgraced royal. “Andrew was sending a list of people he wanted to meet for his own personal business interests,” Lownie alleged, urging transparency in official records.

 

The new allegations come amid ongoing scrutiny of Andrew’s relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The fallout intensified following the posthumous release of Virginia Roberts Giuffre’s memoir, in which she repeated claims of being forced to have sex with Andrew as a teenager, allegations he has consistently denied.
