A woman has accused a hospital of negligence after her boyfriend lost his sight following nasal polyp surgery, alleging that doctors failed to inform relatives about a serious complication. The incident, which began on 28 October 2025, has raised questions about surgical procedures and communication in patient care.

According to a Facebook post shared by the patient’s girlfriend, her partner underwent nasal polyp removal at an unnamed hospital. On the first day after surgery, he was unable to open his eyes due to blood accumulation, but doctors reportedly provided no detailed explanation. By the second day, medical staff informed her that there was a risk he might lose his vision.

On the third day, the hospital transferred the patient to another facility in Bangkok. Doctors there reportedly found that the optic nerves had been completely severed. A further transfer to a third hospital, where both eye and nasal specialists examined him, confirmed the same diagnosis. Specialists at the third hospital also advised that the nasal growth could have been removed safely using laser treatment, suggesting that a full surgical procedure was unnecessary.

The woman said she and her family returned to the first hospital to seek clarification. The attending doctor allegedly admitted to not informing the family about the incident and responded dismissively, implying it was not his fault. The patient remains blind, with photographs posted on 5 November showing severe bruising around his eyes and doctors confirming there is zero chance of regaining sight.

The case has drawn significant attention on social media, with calls for a formal investigation into possible medical negligence and failure of professional conduct. Relatives are reportedly considering filing a complaint through legal or medical disciplinary channels.

Authorities have not yet commented on whether an internal review or investigation will be launched. The incident is expected to prompt closer scrutiny of surgical practices and communication standards in hospitals.
