A mother in Bangkok has refused to believe her 22-year-old daughter took her own life, after the young woman was found hanged in her rented room in the Samsen area on the evening of 6 November 2025. The victim’s boyfriend, who was reportedly the first to find the body, fled the scene with two dogs and has since disappeared. Police have launched an investigation into the mysterious death, which the family suspects may involve foul play.

Police from Samsen Station, led by Pol Lt Keerati Thinonchai, were alerted to the death at around 19.45. The scene, located in a two-storey wooden house behind Wat Thewaratchakunchorn Worawihan in Dusit district, contained four rental rooms. Inside one ground-floor room, officers found the air conditioner still running and the contents of the room scattered. The deceased, identified as Ms Saowalak “Mook,” was discovered hanging from a wardrobe pole.

Her mother, Ms Ubolwan, 46, told reporters she could not accept that her daughter had taken her own life, describing her as a cheerful person who rarely shared her problems. She said Mook had lived with her boyfriend, identified as Mr Mana, for about three years, during which the relationship was marked by frequent violent quarrels. “He was hot-tempered and often hurt my daughter. I’ve told her many times to come home, but she always went back to him,” she said tearfully.

The mother recounted that when she arrived at the scene, she saw her daughter’s boyfriend running away, carrying their two dogs and he has not been seen since. “He found the body before me and ran off. Why would he disappear if he had nothing to hide?” she asked, adding that the state of the room suggested a struggle. She noted that her daughter had messaged her that morning asking for 50 baht, something she often did to buy mobile data, and showed no signs of distress.

A friend of the deceased, Mr Songphon, 28, said he last saw Mook alive at about 4:30 a.m. that day. He had been visiting when the couple began arguing again, with the boyfriend saying he planned to move out. The friend left shortly after and later learned of her death. “They often fought, sometimes violently. She was kind and not the sort to think of suicide,” he said.

Investigators have transferred Mook’s body to the forensic unit at Vajira Hospital to determine the precise cause of death. Authorities are now searching for her boyfriend for questioning. Police said the investigation will continue until the facts are established and, if foul play is confirmed, those responsible will face legal action.
