A pickup truck carrying 21 Myanmar migrant workers crashed into a roadside power pole while fleeing police in Sangkhlaburi District, Kanchanaburi Province, on November 9, 2025. The crash occurred at around 06:30 on Highway 323 (Sangkhlaburi–Thong Pha Phum Road), in front of Thikrong Monastery, Village 4, Prang Phle Sub-district. All passengers were injured, while the driver escaped during the ensuing chaos.

Police Lieutenant Decharit Phonkamon, deputy investigator at Sangkhlaburi Police Station, received the report from officers at the Ranti Bridge checkpoint. Upon arrival at the scene, rescue teams, including the Advanced Life Support (ALS) unit from Sangkhlaburi Hospital and volunteers from the Pitakkarn Foundation, found a black Mitsubishi pickup with severe front-end damage after colliding with an electricity pole. The pole, a government asset, was destroyed.

Among the 21 injured passengers, four were men and seventeen were women. All sustained wounds to their faces and bodies. Eighteen suffered minor injuries, while three required hospital stays. Emergency responders provided first aid before transporting everyone to Sangkhlaburi Hospital. Police confirmed that the driver fled on foot before officers arrived.

Following treatment, Sangkhlaburi Police Chief Colonel Santi Phitaksakul ordered investigators to interview the injured workers and seize the damaged vehicle as evidence. The truck has since been moved to Sangkhlaburi Police Station for further examination.

Investigations revealed that none of the passengers possessed legal travel or work documents. The group, identified through interpreters, said they were from Yangon, Myanmar and had illegally entered Thailand to work at a chicken processing factory. However, they did not know the factory’s exact location. They claimed that while en route under the direction of a broker, their driver accelerated to evade inspection at the Ranti Bridge checkpoint, leading to the crash shortly afterward.

Police are now conducting a full inquiry to locate and arrest the fleeing driver and determine the broker’s involvement in smuggling the migrants into Thailand. Authorities are also coordinating with immigration officials to handle the status of the injured workers according to law.

Run but not hide, the truck will be a dead give-away.

Jail the person for trafficking.
