Perhaps an American subscriber can point me in the right direction to locate an online American friend.<removed>. He lives in Bangkok. He is getting on in years and complained of ill health and then of passport renewal problems. He told me he had received his new USA passport and then Thai immigration problems. Since then, no contact, and he has not opened his Messenger site. Is there a department in the US Embassy that could tell me if there is a record of him having passed away? Any help will be appreciated.

By 'messenger' do you mean FB, if so, and if you can see his 'friends' list, just contact one of his family on the list, as they should know if he passed.

 

If 'friends' list is hidden, then maybe contact someone who has replied to any posts he may have made.

    Why didn't I think of that? Thanks for that advice. I've read one of his friend's posts and it seems he has sadly passed away. Thanks again.
