A 53-year-old man in Tak province fatally stabbed his wife following an argument over divorce, police reported. The incident occurred in Moo 10, Chong Khaep subdistrict, Phop Phra district, leaving the 43-year-old victim dead on a public road.

Pol Col Anusorn Dangkong, Superintendent of Phop Phra Police Station, said officers were alerted to a fatal assault at 16:10 on 10 November. Upon arrival, they found Ms. Mawe, a 43-year-old Myanmar national, lying on the road and immediately apprehended her husband, Mr. Konai, also a Myanmar national, at the scene.

Investigators learned that earlier, the suspect had been drinking alcohol with a local man, Mr. Jamroen, at their home. The wife entered the house to confront him, prompting a minor scuffle in which she attempted to strike him with a ceramic plate. The suspect pushed her, causing her to fall and sustain a head injury. During the altercation, she told him she intended to report him to the village head and seek a divorce.

The victim then left the house and the suspect followed her to the street carrying a 25 cm kitchen knife. He allegedly told her that if she wanted a divorce, she would have to stab him first. When she refused, he stabbed her in the chest and abdomen, causing her death.

Police recovered the knife used in the attack and have taken the suspect into custody. Forensic examinations were conducted by doctors from Phop Phra Hospital, and investigators continue to collect evidence and interview witnesses. The case is being pursued under criminal law for homicide.

It's completely stupid of her to confront him while he's drunk and drinking with his pal in the first place.

Then to threaten divorce during an altercation in which she struck him is even more stupid.
