Police in Ayutthaya have raided a warehouse used to store a massive cache of illegal drugs, seizing ten million methamphetamine pills worth over 500 million baht and arresting two female suspects. The operation, conducted on 12 November, was led by Deputy National Police Chief Pol Gen Samran Nualma, alongside senior officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau and the Special Patrol Division. The suspects, identified as Ms. Merin, 33 and Ms. Sirirat, 33, were apprehended at the scene.

The raid took place at an unnumbered warehouse in Ban Luang Subdistrict, Sena District, Ayutthaya, and extended to a nearby location in Khu Salot Subdistrict, Lat Bua Luang District. Officers seized approximately 50 sacks containing ten million methamphetamine pills (“yaba”), along with three cars, one motorcycle and other assets valued at around 500 million baht. The suspects were charged with possessing and distributing a Category 1 narcotic with intent to sell, an offence deemed to endanger public safety and national security.

According to Pol Gen Samran, the arrests followed a joint investigation by the Special Operations Police (S.P.P.) and military intelligence units, who had been monitoring a drug trafficking network moving narcotics from border areas into central Thailand. Surveillance revealed that the group used the Ayutthaya warehouse to store drugs before further distribution. Acting on intelligence received on 10 November, officers staked out the property after a tip-off that a new consignment had arrived.

Police observed one of the suspect vehicles entering the warehouse before departing shortly after. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled, prompting police to split their forces, one team pursued the fleeing car, while another entered the warehouse. Inside, they found the two women and a pickup truck containing eight million meth pills. A subsequent search of the fleeing vehicle, abandoned near Wat Chattrathong Damritharam, uncovered an additional two million pills hidden inside.

Both suspects told police they had travelled to the site with two men, known only as “Mr. A” and “Mr. B.” The men were allegedly responsible for moving the drugs from the pickup to another vehicle for further transport. Police are now tracking these accomplices and other members of the trafficking network.

Authorities said the suspects and seized evidence have been taken to the Special Patrol Division for formal interrogation and further legal proceedings. Investigators intend to trace the wider network’s logistics and financial routes to identify the masterminds behind the operation.
