The “World’s Best Cities for 2026” report by Resonance Consultancy announced London as the top city for the 11th consecutive year. The report, presented at the World Travel Market in London, evaluates cities based on livability, prosperity, and cultural appeal. London excelled, earning high marks across all categories, highlighting its blend of heritage and modernity.

The report is recognized for its rigorous analysis, utilizing both quantitative data and responses from over 21,000 participants from 30 countries. New York and Paris ranked second and third, praised for their economic influence and sustainable development, respectively. Other top cities include Tokyo, Madrid, and Singapore, among others, each maintaining significant roles in global economics and culture.

The report emphasizes the growing importance of addressing environmental challenges. Cities that invest in infrastructure to mitigate natural disasters ranked highly. Focus on developing connectivity between transport systems and fostering innovation ecosystems is crucial for modern cities, according to experts.

Looking ahead, the Asia-Pacific region remains under examination, notably Bangkok, which rose to 22nd place. The Thai capital is recognized for its cultural identity and tourism recovery, expected to see over a 50% growth in leisure visitors in the next five years. However, the report suggests areas for improvement, such as public transit and air quality, to break into the Top 20, reported The Nation.

Key Takeaways

  • London retains its position as the world's best city in 2026.
  • Addressing environmental challenges is vital for top-ranked cities.
  • Bangkok shows promise with significant tourism growth potential.

This is awesome! Especially with this one directly under:

😂

Time to strengthen the THB again.. this is good news being 22nd best...but in fact not worth mention it....not even the top 10

Bangkok should be top ten. Great city, despite all the big city problems.

London? Seriously? Bo-ring...

In another month, when the air quality goes in the dumper, we'll be moved down to #200.

I completely agree, I consider Bangkok to be an amazing city, and I absolutely love spending time there. There's so much going on, so much to do, and the city has an incredible vitality while maintaining pretty cool local people who are warm and fun-loving, unlike the vast majority of world capitals.

I could swear that I saw here, just a week or two ago, a similar story claiming that Bkk was in fact 3rd in some global assessment or other.

But this thread is not about Bkk, but London.  Saddiq Khan's diversity paradise?  Home of Diane Abbot and Jeremy Corbyn and Andrew Windsor?

Reductio ad absurdum.

You are forgetting that Bangkok is possibly the most polluted.

Perhaps it concerns eating Som Tam, but it doesn't exactly concern air pollution... to name just one thing.

Okay, one more, those motorbikes on the footpath, that too, etc., etc.

At least you won't get mugged and stabbed for your phone here.
