Migrant with 11 Convictions Jailed for Oxford Teen Sexual Assault

A 35-year-old Iranian asylum seeker, Amin Abedi Mofrad, who entered the UK via small boat in 2023, has been sentenced to 9 years and 6 months in prison for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Oxford. The attack occurred on February 14, 2024, as the teenager waited for pickup at Westgate Shopping Centre after an under-18s nightclub event.

Mofrad, despite 11 prior convictions in Germany for violent assaults and actual bodily harm (ABH) between 2014 and 2019, was allowed into Britain. He told the victim she could be his "sex doll" before dragging her into an alleyway and committing sexual assault by penetration, Oxford Crown Court heard. Shortly after arriving in the UK, he was arrested for another alleged sexual assault, but the case was dropped due to insufficient evidence. He was also convicted of stealing a woman's bag and silver chain in January 2024.

The victim's mother has demanded answers from the Home Office, blaming authorities for failing to check Mofrad's criminal history. In a letter to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, she described her daughter's lifelong trauma and insisted: "Why was he in this country? Checks should have revealed his dangers before he harmed my child." Thames Valley Police reported the incident on April 7, 2024, leading to Mofrad's initial arrest and bail. New phone evidence prompted a second arrest on December 13, charges on February 3, 2025, and a unanimous guilty verdict on October 7 for one count of sexual assault and one of sexual assault by penetration.

Detective Constable Bethany Liversidge praised the victim's bravery, noting Thames Valley Police's commitment to combating violence against women and girls through initiatives like Project Vigilant. The family requests privacy.

Key Takeaways

  • Criminal History Ignored: Mofrad had 11 German convictions for violent assaults yet entered the UK unchecked via small boat migration.
  • Brutal Attack on Teen: 15-year-old victim sexually assaulted in Oxford alley after being lured from shopping centre pickup point.
  • Justice Served: 9.5-year sentence with 3-year extended license; mother holds Home Office accountable for asylum seeker vetting failures.

Agreed.

I suspect with his recalcitrant attitude, he's beyond fixing. Should have his tallywhacker removed.
