The Deputy Minister of Industry, Petty Officer Yotsingh Liamlert, led the destruction of 7,258 substandard products worth 2,073,515 baht at the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Industry Office, on 13 November 2025. The operation targeted unsafe electrical appliances including extension cords, sockets, irons, toasters and LED bulbs, aiming to prevent harm to consumers. The move reinforces the government’s policy of strict enforcement against unsafe products nationwide.

The action follows a wider crackdown on non-compliant goods, including “Operation 11.11”, which shut down 7,293 online links selling substandard electrical appliances on various e-commerce platforms. The Ministry of Industry emphasised that both manufacturers and retailers, online or offline, are responsible for ensuring products meet safety standards. Those found selling unsafe goods risk legal action, including retailers found complicit by stocking these items.

Deputy Minister Yotsingh stated the campaign is part of a broader effort to “eradicate economic crimes at their root” and to target both illegal producers and importers, as well as distribution networks. The Ministry is monitoring retail stores and warehouses, ensuring enforcement extends beyond Bangkok to other provinces, including Nakhon Ratchasima.

Eakniti Romyanon, Secretary-General of the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), confirmed that all seized products were among 150 controlled items and were legally cleared as evidence in concluded cases. The destruction process also ensures that industrial waste does not harm the environment.

Following the destruction, Matichon reported that the Ministry visited a HomePro branch in Nakhon Ratchasima to inspect on-shelf products and demonstrate the policy’s nationwide application. TISI urged consumers to prioritise safety by checking for the Thai Industrial Standards (TIS) mark and QR codes on electrical appliances before purchase.

Key Takeaways

• Over 7,200 unsafe electrical products worth 2 million baht were destroyed in Nakhon Ratchasima.

• The Ministry of Industry enforces compliance both online and in physical stores nationwide.

• Consumers are advised to check for TIS certification and QR codes before purchasing appliances.
