A 32-year-old woman known as "Ler" was apprehended in Marikina City on Sunday, November 16, for distributing explicit photos and videos of her husband and his alleged ladyboy lover. The arrest was made following a warrant issued by Judge Anjanette N. De Leon-Ortile, with bail set at P210,000. Ler faces charges under the Safe Spaces Act and the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

This incident traces back to suspicions Ler had since 2021 when she believed her husband was involved with another person. Upon allegedly confirming her suspicions with explicit content found on his phone, she reacted by sharing it on social media and with the alleged lover's relatives. This led to a formal complaint and subsequent legal action.

Authorities report that Ler and her husband have since reconciled and co-parent two children. Despite their improved relationship, Ler was arrested without resistance in Barangay Laging Handa, Quezon City. Expressing regret for her actions, she acknowledged the consequences and the toll on her peace of mind.

In the aftermath, the Marikina City Police Station reiterated its dedication to upholding the law against cyber-related gender-based offenses. Ler remains in custody as the case proceeds. The police emphasized their commitment to bringing such offenders to justice, underscoring the importance of legal adherence.

Looking forward, the case will proceed as Ler's legal issues are addressed. The authorities continue to advocate for justice and reinforce awareness of legal ramifications related to cybercrime and harassment, reported Manila Bulletin.
