Trump Cheers Greene’s Exit After Brutal Rift Boils Over

Donald Trump didn’t bother pretending to be gracious. Hours after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene stunned Washington by announcing she will resign from Congress in early January, the president reacted with trademark bluntness: “Great news for the country.” Not exactly a warm farewell to a former MAGA super-loyalist who once styled herself as Trump’s fiercest foot soldier.

Speaking to ABC News reporter Rachel Scott, Trump said he learned of Greene’s decision only when everyone else did. He didn’t ask why, didn’t offer sympathy, and didn’t mince words. “I think she should be happy,” he said when asked whether he planned to contact her. Translation: Don’t call me — I won’t call you.

Greene, in her fiery resignation statement, made clear the split wasn’t an accident. She said Trump’s recent public remarks about her were “hurtful,” and she blasted the one-way loyalty dynamic that has defined their relationship. “I refuse to be a ‘battered wife’ hoping it all goes away,” she wrote, framing her departure not as defeat but as escape.

The final rupture appears to have erupted over the Jeffrey Epstein files. Greene has loudly pushed for full release, while Trump has recently softened and reversed his position — a move she openly challenged. Trump then clipped his support, sending a clear signal that the MAGA brand was no longer hers to wield.

Once inseparable on the far-right flank, the two now stand publicly estranged: Trump dismissive, Greene wounded and defiant. Her resignation leaves a shockwave inside the GOP caucus, where

Greene’s antics, alliances and feuds have long shaped the hard-right ecosystem.

Trump wished her well — but only after making it clear he won’t miss her.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
• Trump called Greene’s resignation “great news,” deepening their public split.
• Greene says Trump’s attacks were “hurtful” and accused him of one-way loyalty.
• Epstein-file tensions helped ignite the final rupture between the former allies.

He doesn't care. What little of his little brain still fires on most cylinders has checked out. He's focusing on grifting accruing as much wealth as he can.

He donates 100% of his salary to good causes. Does that sound like a grifter? Did your senile President do the same? Incredible how lefties keep speaking in opposites.

Trump hates MTG but loves Mamdani. MTG disagreed with him and Mamdani flattered him. See how it works? Flatter old butterball and you'll get everything you want. Dare to hold him to his promises and out ya go.

Trump is trying to make this look like a good thing, when in reality it's a huge tragedy for him, for MAGA, and the Republican Party. MTG was a stalwart, a trusted ally and a faithful servant for many years, until Trump crossed the line and started pulling the kind of nonsense he's pulling right now, where rational and reasonable people just can't go along with the stupidity.

I've never liked her much but I certainly applaud her for her courage, and for showing some conviction, and for not being a utterly obedient lap dog, and showing fealty to the filthy new king.

Sunny - I really wonder about your posts ? Will you be the last Trumpet blaring ? Whatever do you see in this appalling Man ?

Re. this earlier, "Donald Trump didn’t bother pretending to be gracious".

No surprise there then. Trump is a man without a trace of grace, (humility and decency too).

Why did the lefty lawfarers not charge him for this (fantasy) grifting of billions? Better than the shock horror of the loan he paid back in full on time aka the lefts 34 felony failed moonshot.

With many people, once they got attached to a theory, it was hard to get them detached. They’d screen out unhelpful facts, invent favorable ones, and ignore contradictions in their own claims. Look at those Sandy Hook, multiple fraud convictions, and Jan. 6th truthers, babbling about false flags and crisis actors and all the rest. When people were motivated enough to believe something, they were going to believe it no matter what. There was no such thing as a bridge too far.

Im thinking of the laptop being "Russian disinformation" which led to an illegitimate election and 4 tears of worldwide chaos. Certainly people got so attached to this conspiracy theory that fact was banned for years. Is this what you mean?

Trump donating the entirety of his salary is equivalent to us offering a homeless person a quarter of a banana. In this world of relativities some things mean a lot and other things mean nothing.

It's very likely that Trump has engaged in the least amount of charity in the history of mankind, relative to his net worth.

The Smoking Gun’s 2011 article concluded that Trump “may be the least charitable billionaire in the United States.” It also suggested that he was one of the wiliest. Years before the Post’s stellar reporting, the Smoking Gun revealed that Trump had found a clever way for his foundation to give away more money—by using cash donated by other people.

In effect, Trump turned the Trump Foundation into a charity intermediary. Rather than donating money himself, he attracted donations from individuals and institutions he had done business with, or helped out in some way, then used this money to send out checks that bore the Trump Foundation’s name. One of the foundation’s biggest donors was Vince McMahon, the chairman and majority owner of World Wrestling Entertainment. ”Tax returns show that World Wrestling Entertainment has given Trump’s foundation a total of $5 million in return for the developer’s assistance in working a couple of televised angles along with WWE boss Vince McMahon,” the 2011 Smoking Gun article said. “The WWE gave Trump’s foundation $4 million in 2007 for his help in promoting that year’s WrestleMania festivities, and another $1 million in 2009.”

Wow. Creative stinginess.

It would be nice IF the salary he was donating was his own money. However as a supposedly civil servant, ALL his expenses, including his salary, accommodation costs, food, cars, aircraft, security team etc are paid for by the US taxpayers, so he is not actually donating anything of his own to charity.

Well, to be fair, Sunny has been very consistent with his "The Laptop" drivel. Gotta give credit where credit's due!😄

MTG is obviously smarter than Trump’s, foreign and domestic, supporters we meet in this forum.

She stayed in the game until the very eve of Trump losing control of his pedophile protection scheme.

She now walks away from the litany of mendacity she supported, claims righteousness on the Epstein scandal and paints herself as a victim for her ‘moral stance’.

But let’s be not give her too much credit, not wanting to protect pedophiles is a low bar to set, though obviously some disagree.

Actually she stayed in the game just long enough to get the life long Congressional pension. Indeed she became eligible just 2 days previous of her announement.

Like I said, she’s smarter than many around here.

Isn't she getting a little over $1000/month when she hits 62 with that pension? She owns a construction company and has a net worth in the multi-millions. Personally, I would like an extra thousand a month; I could do some things with it. But I bet she hardly notices.

His salary is peanuts compared to what his family business is raking in.
