A giant python measuring about three meters was captured in Muang Phon district, Thailand, after swallowing a dog. The snake, found near Charoensuk Road, had become sluggish and was easily caught by a team from the Muang Phon Foundation. The python was later released back into the wild.

The python had been spotted over several days slithering around the area. Locals in the northeastern province shared images online of the rescue. District chief Kittichote Triamvejwutikrai stated that police and rescuers were notified of its presence, due to its frequent appearances on and off the road.

Once restrained, rescuers noticed a bulge near the snake's throat, indicating it had recently eaten. Upon release into a safe forested area, the python regurgitated its last meal: a dead brown dog. This capture required the efforts of about ten men, given the snake's enormous size and recent meal.

Mr. Kittichote remarked that this python was the largest he had ever seen in the area. Despite the potentially dangerous situation, no injuries were reported from the incident. The removal of the python helped to alleviate concerns among local residents about safety.

Going forward, local wildlife officials plan to monitor the area closely for any other large reptiles that could pose a threat. Efforts will be made to ensure a balance between wildlife conservation and community safety, with ongoing community notifications about wildlife sightings, reported Bangkok Post.

Key Takeaways

  • A three-meter python was captured after swallowing a dog in Thailand.
  • Rescuers used a team of about ten men to safely capture and release the snake.
  • No injuries occurred, and officials will monitor the area for more wildlife.

As exciting as it gets in Isaan. A snake. And it makes news.

Can't wait to return there tomorrow.

How does a snake catch a faster dog?

Is the dog intrigued?

Or hypnotised just like in Jungle Book?

If they want they can send it down here to fix up a neighbours bitch and pups.

Yes, there are too many dogs in this world, and it would be an excellent idea to breed pythons to help solve the problem.  Except that you could never breed enough pythons to do the job.

What they don't tell you is that a python caught digesting a swallowed mammal will attempt to escape by vomiting up the victim a stinking revolting mess.
