A truck driver lost control on a steep bend in Doi Saket, Chiang Mai, on 3 December 2025, resulting in one death and four injuries. The vehicle, a Mitsubishi registered in Chiang Mai, plunged into a ravine at the Ban Pang Fan area, according to local police. Emergency services attended the scene promptly and the injured were taken to hospital.

The crash occurred around 09:00 on the Ban Mae Ton–Ban Pang Fan road, Mu 4, Thep Sadet subdistrict. Police spokesperson Samnierong Wongpuang reported that the truck was travelling from Ban Mae Ton towards Ban Pang Fan when it failed to navigate the sharp, steep curve. The vehicle driver lost control and fell into the ravine, leaving five people injured.

Those injured included the driver, Mr Nirand 63, who was treated for injuries and four passengers: Mr Uthis (51), Mr Boontiam (60), Mr Mai (29), and Mr Sophon (53). All were hospitalised, with one later succumbing to injuries.

Authorities noted the road’s steep gradient and sharp curve as contributing factors in the crash. Rescue teams from Doi Saket and police investigators attended the scene to assess the situation and manage traffic. Officials emphasised the risks of such terrain, particularly for heavy vehicles and called for caution when driving in the area.

Khoasod reported that local police are investigating the incident further to determine if any additional factors contributed to the crash. The road conditions and vehicle maintenance are to be reviewed to prevent similar incidents. Families of the victims are receiving assistance, and authorities continue to monitor the health of the victims.

NO the only way to prevent similar incidents is a proper driving test, or ban all Thais, from driving round bends and down hills....:coffee1:
