Tourist police on Koh Pha Ngan safely located a 32-year-old Indian tourist with a chronic heart condition after he went missing for several days, prompting urgent intervention by Thai authorities and the Indian Embassy in Bangkok. The man, identified as Harsh, was found disoriented on Haad Rin beach on December 4, leading to a reunion with relatives who had travelled to the island to assist. Officials said the case underscored the importance of rapid coordination when vulnerable visitors lose contact with family.

Harsh had checked into a hotel on November 22 before leaving the property on December 2 without returning, raising concern due to his known arrhythmia. After his family lost contact with him, the Indian Embassy contacted Thailand’s Tourist Police Bureau through the 1155 hotline, triggering a coordinated search. Officers verified his hotel records and circulated his details across Koh Pha Ngan to expand the investigation.

Tourist police teams were deployed to key tourist areas and notified hotels across the island as part of the search effort. Officers later discovered Harsh sitting alone and appearing disoriented on Rin Beach in Moo 6, Ban Tai subdistrict. He was taken to accommodation so officers could assess his condition and plan further steps with his family and embassy representatives.

Police said Harsh had been facing family problems that contributed to his disappearance and initial refusal to return home. His relatives travelled to Koh Pha Ngan with the intention of bringing him back to India, supported by an Indian military medical team that arrived to assist. Tourist police spent hours negotiating with him until he agreed to leave with his family for medical care.

Officers arranged transportation for Harsh and two relatives to Haad Thian Pier, where they were transferred to tourist police on Koh Samui for onward travel. From there, he was escorted to Samui Airport and placed on a flight home under medical supervision. The Indian Embassy and his family expressed gratitude to Thai authorities, saying they would encourage more Indian tourists to visit Thailand due to the professionalism shown.

Manager online reported that police Lieutenant General Saksi Sira Phueakaam, Commissioner of the Tourist Police, reaffirmed orders for tourist police stations in key destinations to maintain maximum safety and assistance for visitors. He said the objective is to strengthen traveller confidence during the high season by ensuring every case involving tourist welfare is handled promptly and thoroughly. Authorities expect increased cooperation with foreign embassies as visitor numbers rise.
