Security forces in Nong Khai seized more than 1,000 kilograms of illicit drugs on 5 December 2025 in one of the region’s largest recent interceptions, stopping a pickup truck allegedly transporting crystal methamphetamine and ketamine destined for southern Thailand. The haul, valued at over 150 million baht, was confiscated during a coordinated operation involving military, police, customs and provincial officials. A 28-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene.

Thailand has called for an independent fact-finding mission under the UN after raising concerns at the 22nd Meeting of States Parties to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention in Geneva. Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow delivered a statement on 5 December 2025, clarifying Thailand’s position on the Thailand–Cambodia border situation and its request under Article 8 of the Ottawa Convention. The National Institute for Emergency Medicine, together with Pattaya City, Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, and Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation, will host “CPR ON THE BEACH,” where participants will practice cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and learn to use automated external defibrillators (AEDs) designed for public

The Finance Ministry has confirmed that the second phase of the Khon La Khrueng Plus co-payment scheme will be ready for public use before Parliament is dissolved in January 2026. Authorities have confirmed the discovery of a plastic bottle inside the digestive tract of a Bryde’s whale found dead on a shoreline in Songkhla on 5 December 2025. The carcass, which had begun to emit a strong odour, washed up along the coast of Khao Rup Chang subdistrict in Mueang district and drew public attention after images circulated widely on social media. Officials from the Rare and Endangered Marine Animal Unit of the Lower Gulf of Thailand Marine and Coastal Resources Research Centre conducted a full autopsy on 6 December.

Train Crash Injures 18 Tourists in Kanchanaburi

Eighteen tourists were injured on 6 December after a shunting locomotive crashed into a stationary passenger train at Wang Yen Railway Station in Kanchanaburi Province. The impact damaged the locomotive and violently jolted six passenger carriages, leaving four people seriously hurt. All injured passengers, were transported to Phahol Pholpayuhasena Hospital.

Man High on Drugs Kills Girlfriend & Lives With Body for 17 Days

Police announced on 6 December that a 19-year-old woman was found dead in a Bangkok housing block after her boyfriend allegedly beat her to death and lived with her decomposing body for 17 days, prompting shock among neighbours who first noticed a strong odour. Police from Khan Na Yao Police Station discovered the body of Ms Airin, known as “Yi”, naked, swollen and bearing bruises inside a unit at an Eua-Athorn building in Bang Khen. Officers also found drug-taking equipment and rescued the suspect’s mother, who had been locked in a separate room.

Police in Bang Pa-in have arrested one of the two suspects involved in the brutal killing of a pub security guard in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, a case that has raised concern among local residents. The victim, 32-year-old Suthikarn Phetshahin, was found dead on Chom Phon P Road in Sam Ruean sub-district after being stabbed more than 20 times and struck on the head with a stone in the early hours of 5 December. Police have arrested a 35-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing and burning a victim in Sakon Nakhon, bringing an end to a multi-provincial manhunt. The suspect, Nichthawan, was detained on 5 December 2025 near Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem close to Hua Lamphong Railway Station in Bangkok. Officers found a 25-centimetre knife at his waist and he later confirmed he was the person named in an active arrest warrant.

French Man Arrested on Koh Phangan for Rape

A French man has been arrested on Koh Phangan after police raided his room following a rape complaint filed by a victim. Officers from the Special Operations Unit of the Surat Thani Provincial Police Investigation Division detained 35-year-old Mr Romain Jean Félix, under an arrest warrant issued by the Koh Samui Provincial Court. Police said the suspect was apprehended without incident before being handed over to Koh Phangan Police Station for legal processing.

Thai–Cambodian Border Clash in Sisaket Injures Two Soldiers
