BANGKOK - A shocking incident unfolded late on December 8, 2025, when a 21-year-old man identified as Phon was arrested for the fatal stabbing of a ride-hailing motorcycle driver following a dispute over a wrong location pin.

According to police, the argument began after Phon reportedly entered an incorrect destination on the ride-hailing app, which caused confusion and tension between him and the driver. Investigators said Phon later admitted he acted out of anger and used a knife he habitually carried during nights out.

At around 10:00 p.m., Pol Col Athimes Chaiyasornwich and officers from Khlong Luang Police Station tracked Phon to Thupatemi Stadium in Pathum Thani and placed him under arrest. Police recovered the clothes he was wearing at the time of the incident, a kitchen knife, two mobile phones, and a white Honda Giorno motorcycle without a licence plate.

Police said the situation escalated as the pair travelled along Phahon Yothin Road. Phon asked to be dropped off near a railway road, but after the driver had already taken a different route, the argument intensified. In a sudden act of violence, Phon allegedly stabbed the driver from behind. The motorcycle subsequently crashed, and a struggle followed, during which Phon sustained injuries to his hands.

Investigators said Phon dragged the injured driver into a roadside ditch before fleeing the scene on the motorcycle. He later abandoned the vehicle and did not take any valuables from the victim.

During questioning, Phon told police he was familiar with the route, as he frequently used it to visit friends. He now faces serious charges, including robbery and carrying a weapon in public without a valid reason. The motorcycle has been seized for forensic examination.

CCTV footage from nearby cameras captured the motorbike at the scene. The video reportedly shows two men on the motorcycle before later showing only Phon riding away. Police said the footage will be key evidence as the investigation continues, reported channel 7.
