Police have questioned a man about discussions involving cyanide with Channel 8 reporter Nattawut Ponglangka, who was found dead in Nonthaburi on November 30. Pol Col Kittisak Pongthanarak, chief of Bang Kruai police station, indicated the man's chat records showed conversation about cyanide. Nattawut's initial cause of death was suspected to be sudden unexplained nocturnal death syndrome, but forensic results revealed lethal levels of cyanide.

High cyanide concentrations were found in Nattawut’s blood and stomach, prompting an investigation into possible foul play. Pol Col Kittisak stated that suicide or homicide have not been ruled out as police continue to gather evidence. A re-examination of Nattawut's residence, scheduled for Thursday with family members present, aims to uncover more details.

DNA samples and phone numbers from four people at Nattawut's house on the night of his death have been collected for further analysis. Pol Maj Gen Atthapol Anusit mentioned the potential need to expedite the house inspection and believes cyanide might still be present there. Authorities will check whether any items, including CCTV footage or the victim's phone, were removed or destroyed.

During the investigation, charges could be laid if evidence is found to have been tampered with or destroyed. The man questioned, accompanied by his lawyer, refused to comment, saying he would let the police handle the investigation. Updates will be awaited as the police work to piece together the events surrounding Nattawut’s death, reported Bangkok Post.

Key Takeaways

  • Nattawut Ponglangka’s death involves possible cyanide poisoning.
  • Police are considering both suicide and homicide as possible causes.
  • Further inspections and analyses are ongoing to uncover additional evidence.
