Mid Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Property hot spots linked by airline Asia Property Report - August 18 - News snipSamui is Bangkok Airways’ stronghold, due in large part to their exclusive access to the island’s airport which they privately own. As a result, Samui’s growth has been largely attributed to Bangkok Airways and their strong support and promotion of the destination over the years. snip property-report.com
chinthee Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I suppose Bangkok airways promotion includes airfares that are 3 times more than Phuket on average then? If they ever lost their monopoly, the place would be overrun.
Samuian Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 If they ever lost their monopoly, the place would be overrun. Well, Samui's Economy is feeling the crunch, while Monopolists are cashing in... Monopolists are economic fascists...

What is unbelivable is that Bangkok Airways is able to keep the same 3800 bath ticket all year long... No low season discount. I saw on the web site that they have less flights on low season but i'm sure they are fliyng empty, the island has very few turists in spring....
chinthee Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 I buy a platinum card on One2go as needed for 20k Baht. It costs me 1750 each way to fly from BKK to HKT or return, and sometimes less. Last time I flew to Samui from BKK it was triple that.

I did it the Thai way! i dont think the price of bangkok air tickets stop people coming to samui ,its all the bad press regarding taxi's and hotel prices that dont help, but it would be nice to have lower air fares........
