A couple's recently acquired second-hand Toyota Avanza caught fire before reaching home, causing a significant scare but resulting in no injuries. The incident took place at 7:30 pm on December 11 on Kanchanaphisek Bridge, Samut Prakan. Phra Pradaeng Police, local firefighters, and rescue teams quickly responded, extinguishing the fire within 10 minutes.

The couple, including 50-year-old Wicharn, purchased the vehicle for 75,000 baht in Suphan Buri earlier that day. As they reached the bridge, smoke and flames emerged from the engine, forcing them to stop and exit the car safely. Despite attempts by passing drivers to assist, strong winds intensified the fire until fire trucks managed to subdue it.

Authorities confirmed that a full investigation is underway to identify the blaze's cause. The incident highlights the importance of vehicle safety checks, particularly when purchasing second-hand cars. Nearby vehicles were not damaged, and traffic was cautiously redirected during the emergency response.

In a similar event, a foreign man in Phuket was hospitalized after his car ignited on a roadside. Fire crews took 20 minutes to control the flames, illustrating ongoing challenges faced by emergency responders.
