Noxious Gases From Dead Fish Blamed For Death Of Burmese Fisherman

Featured Replies

A story now from our broadcast colleagues in Sattahip District relating to the death of a local Burmese Fisherman. Police Sub-Lieutenant Supawat from Sattahip Police Station was called to Samaer San Fishing Port after fishermen reported the death of a colleague who is believed to have gone into shock after he inhaled noxious gases produced by rotting fish. The fish were kept in a small section of a fishing boat and had been separated from the live catch in preparation for disposal.

Mr. Sua was assigned to the task of removing the dead fish. He entered the boat and did not come out for some time and was later found lifeless. A post mortem examination is now underway to confirm the cause of death. Police inspected the body and surroundings and their initial findings suggest there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this unusual death.
