Cyber police and Rayong city officers arrested two 40-year-olds inside a Kasikornbank branch in Rayong on 12 December 2025, in a sting operation targeting an alleged “mule account” network linked to online criminal activity. The pair were detained at around 11:00 after officers observed a cash withdrawal and handover totalling 180,000 baht inside the bank on Sukhumvit Road. Police seized 186,000 baht in cash and several bank books from branches in the Pattaya area for further examination.

Prior to the operation, cyber police had monitored the behaviour of Mr Oi, aged 40, identified in the report as a transgender individual, who travelled to the bank to withdraw 180,000 baht in cash. Officers observed her pass the money to Ms Kung, also 40, who was waiting inside the branch. Undercover personnel posing as customers intervened immediately after the cash exchange and detained both individuals.

During the arrest, Ms Kung attempted to walk out of the bank as if to flee but was quickly stopped and taken into custody. Both suspects were then transferred to Muang Rayong Police Station for questioning and further investigation. Officers also collected bank books believed to be linked to accounts opened in Pattaya that may have been used to support illicit financial flows.

Police charged Mr Oi with opening or allowing others to use deposit and electronic accounts for purposes not benefiting themself, an offence associated with mule accounts under the Technology Crime Prevention and Suppression Act. Ms Kung was charged with procuring, persuading, or advertising the buying, selling, or lending of electronic accounts to facilitate online criminal offences. Investigators from Police Region 2’s technology crime unit stated they had tracked Mr Oi from the time they opened the accounts in Pattaya before moving funds for withdrawal in Rayong.

Mr Oi told officers he did not know themaccounts were being used as mule accounts and claimed he sold products online in Pattaya. He stated that the female friend encouraged him to open the accounts to avoid tax and offered 3,000–4,000 baht per transaction. He insisted it was the first time participating and said he was unaware the actions were illegal.

SiamRath reported that police are now examining the financial trail linked to the seized accounts to identify further transactions and potential criminal beneficiaries. Investigators are also expanding their probe to locate senior figures believed to be directing the wider network. Authorities say further arrests and charges may follow as the investigation progresses.
