Anyone Making $$ Off YT, Podcasts, Blogs on Thai Expat Topics?

Featured Replies

Most of the tiny bit of video I've seen online couldn't hold my attention for even a few minutes. Some old geezers prattling on about girls, bars or visas. Nevertheless, I'm wondering if you know of anyone that has made this work (high views, money)? Seems even videos that have been up years have low views.

Blogs... sadly, no one reads

Podcasts... even stateside podcasts can bore to tears. I've never heard an expat podcast that held my attention more than a few mins. I think they need editing and polished presentation as videos

I recall Mark Weins (sp?) has a fairly successful good channel.

How do you monetize it? From home country?

Curious.

Suggest you look at the pinned topics on this forum that feature such videos.

There is a video pinned at the top of this section with over 300k views

I make a small fortune off Only Fans by modeling my 68 year old body naked.

Oh hang on, that was just a dream last night.

You need so many subscribers, and some many views & hours of, to make money.  I have couple channels, monetized & not, but one I post here on AN, personal vids, wouldn't interest many, so not monetized, as not that stupid also, way too many verdictive members, people out there.

Besides, personal channel with '32,525 views' wouldn't be raking in the money.  Other channel generates a few more views.

You can make good money, from anywhere, to a targeted audience, which AN is not.  Other audiences, hobbies & what not, yea, you can make money.  Need to post something at least once a week.

Keyword searches don't really turn up much activity for topics of retirement in Thailand, expats, related...

Unless you are providing some type of service, YT itself doesn't pay much, unless lots of subscribers & views of course.   That's why travel & retirement vids have sponsors, better income stream.

Partner with vendors, distributors of product, and if doing a review of, and link to that product / vendor, not only do you get a commission for that product if bought, but anything they buy, using your link provided to that vendor.  Cookies and repeated use of your link, send commission to you every time they shop from said link:  Amazon, Banggood, AliExpress, etc.   Why everyone has Amazon links :coffee1:

You might review drones, camera gear, do cooking w/appliances, and links to, but while shopping they don't buy whatever, but, buy a TV, or lawn mover, power tools, etc, you'd still get commission for that.  And if they share your link, then same.

Set a your own 'shopping' page / link with products you use, recommend, and your links of, using different vendors, and when the shop at those vendors, cha ching.

Add in sponsors of your channel, and it all start to add up.

Or you can do like my daughter, have your own line of products, sold via Shopee & IG, links to, whether buy & resell, or raw materials and have manufactured, or simply relabeled.   She went to CN last year, for consistent manufacturer (fashion / clothes) as TH folks were a bit inconsistent.   She's heading to JP next year, part pleasure, part business for same.

Options abound and the internet just open more of them.   Nobody needs to be a salaried employee for ever.  So many more opportunities from when I was self employed back in USA, pre 2000.

You want to be poor, be an employee all your life, and retire at 65 on a fixed income, if you can find a company that will even be around :coffee1:
