Thai Forces Push for Gulf Closure to Throttle Cambodia's Supplie

Cambodia's coastline is actually quite small. So blocking large commercial vessels from accessing bigger ports would be fairly easy, no commercial vessel would defy a warship. But it would be a major escalation.

With respect, not so. Yes, Cambodia's coastline is small, but blocking large vessels no! Such vessels enter direct from the South China Sea via The Mekong and Vietnam. The Gulf of Thailand and its navy are irrelevent!

  • China has a mega shipping port/base in Cambodia I don't think they will be too happy about a blockade.   Plus, Vietnam uses this area for shipping too.   The whole idea is just dum

  • So does this means Thailand is selling oil and military goods to Cambodia at this time ?  If true they really are stupid !

Will there even be an election?

Or to put it another way, Does there even need to be an election? Since at best, the result will only be a suggestion to those who actually decide.

The generals with their want for war posturing, a PM desperate to use nationalistic fervour to swing a forthcoming election and a national culture of it's 'All about saving face'.

Sorry to say, but hopefully it will all go wrong for Thailand.

Yes, it is not a good idea to escalate. Yes, the Chinese will support Cambodia. However, one should not overstate the importance of the Ream Port.  It is not a mega shipping  port or naval base.  Yes, it is a naval base. It has 2 piers and one dock. The largest pier allocated to the Chinese can handle 2-4 corvette sized vessels, or 2 destroyers or frigates, if both sides of the pier are used.  The Cambodian navy pier is used for  its small coastal defence  watercraft, and the dock is where the foreign naval vessels tie up.

Cambodia's mega port remains Sihanoukville and that is where the  container cranes, warehouses and shipping capacity remains.

Vietnam would not be impacted by Thai  actions against Thai vessels. I expect that Vietnam has little love for Cambodia and may be having a bit of a laugh at Thailand 's mess. Concerned  tourists will be diverting from Thailand to Vietnam, and Vietnam certainly doesn't want the type of tourist who goes to Cambodia.

Why doesn't Thailand just suspend oil and military goods from Thailand to Cambodia?

 As previously posted -

Cambodia has banned and boycotted ALL Thai products and produce from entering the country. Companies such as PTT, 7-11, Amazon Coffee, CPP foods,Singha and ThaiBev breweries , also  SCG  and MAKRO are suffering financial crises. Our goods and supplies now come from friendly countries and Thailand is of no significance.

The chinese and russians are behind the whole attack  , Cambodia is weak and a client state of the PRC and putin .its all part of the destabilisation of democracy and the west and its allies ,, No benefit for cambodia  they are mere cannon fodder and puppets .
