Starting December 15, individuals and organizations in Vietnam assisting traffic accident victims could receive financial rewards. The new regulation, Decree No 279/2025/NĐ-CP, outlines that helpers may receive up to VNĐ5 million (US$180), while organizations could get up to VNĐ10 million ($380) per incident. This is part of the government’s initiative to mitigate road traffic accident damage by encouraging prompt medical assistance.

The Road Traffic Accident Damage Mitigation Fund, established at the central level, supports these incentives. It aims to reduce damage from road incidents by mobilizing social resources. Victim support ranges from up to VNĐ20 million ($760) for a family experiencing a fatality, to VNĐ10 million for those injured with a significant injury rate. For community reintegration activities, victims with severe injuries may receive up to VNĐ100 million per assistance period.

Experts suggest this incentive may foster a community spirit and enhance response times in emergencies. By financially supporting Good Samaritans, the policy is expected to encourage more people to help accident victims without hesitation. However, managing and disbursing these funds transparently will be essential to maximize its positive impact.

Looking forward, a focus on raising public awareness is also part of the plan. The decree includes support for communication activities with up to VNĐ10 million for organizations and VNĐ5 million for individuals involved in educating the public about traffic accident prevention. These efforts aim to create a safer road environment overall, reported Vietnam News.

Key Takeaways

  • Financial support of up to VNĐ5 million for individuals helping accident victims starts December 15.
  • Victims’ families and severely injured individuals may receive substantial financial aid.
  • The initiative aims to improve emergency responses and increase public safety awareness.
