Bangkok has been declared the most-visited city globally for 2025, as detailed in a survey by Euromonitor International. The ranking indicates a remarkable recovery in Thailand's tourism sector and underscores Bangkok's status as a premier destination. Deputy Government Spokesperson Aiyarin Phanrit emphasized the importance of this achievement, citing 30.3 million international arrivals.

The city's position at the top reflects successful tourism promotion efforts and Thailand's efficient air traffic system. Flight data from Aeronautical Radio of Thailand shows a significant increase in flights, with 904,796 flights in the 2025 fiscal year and a substantial rise toward the end. December alone witnessed 84,543 flights, with projections of 87,835 in January 2026.

International flights are expected to form a significant part of this growth, with 473,364 anticipated. Domestic flights will number 343,422, and there will be 111,379 overflights through Thai airspace. Measures are being prepared to manage the anticipated surge in flights during the New Year holiday from 29 December to 7 January, expecting 27,632 flights.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is taking proactive steps to maintain this momentum. Recently, they led a delegation of 50 businesses to the World Travel Market 2025 in London, aiming to attract high-value travelers. Plans are underway to host a Health & Wellness Trade Meet, promoting premium experiences from 2026 to entice wellness enthusiasts and luxury travelers, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

  • Bangkok is the most-visited city in 2025, with 30.3 million visitors.
  • Flight increases signal a strong tourism recovery in Thailand.
  • Strategies are in place to manage holiday travel surges and attract premium tourists.

All tourists?

I would take that figure with a huge pinch of salt.
Maybe 30m land at Bangkok Airports, but how many of those people then go onward to other Asia destinations in and outside Thailand.
84 million people landed at London airports last year, are you telling me they all stayed ?

Another unheard-of survey name.
