Police in Pattaya arrested a Chinese national, Zhang, for producing and distributing Pod K—a vape liquid mixed with ketamine. The December 12 raid was carried out by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) following a tip-off about the substance's popularity among partygoers in the area.

Zhang, 36, was found in a house in Soi Pattaya 15, Chon Buri, which was converted into a production site for Pod K. Police obtained a search warrant and discovered a large quantity of illegal items, including 4,945 Pod K units, 11 bags of etomidate powder, 15,000 empty vape pods, 85 gallons of e-liquid, and production equipment.

During questioning, Zhang denied owning the operation, claiming he was only guarding the site and delivering goods for a wage. He stated he was unaware the items were illegal and mentioned the true owner had returned to China before the raid. Police are determining the charges Zhang will face as the investigation continues.

Simultaneously, authorities arrested another Chinese national, Li, in Bangkok on December 22 for selling Pod K. Li admitted to operating in the Huai Khwang area, with police seizing 500 Pod K units from his condo.

In November, four other Chinese nationals were apprehended in separate raids in Bangkok and Pattaya for similar offenses. Police continue to investigate the broader Pod K distribution network.

Key Takeaways

  • Police arrested a Chinese national in Pattaya for producing illegal vape drugs.
  • Large quantities of Pod K and production materials were seized during the raid.
  • Investigations into related networks and operations are ongoing.

'the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) following a tip-off.'  Thai police never ACT, only REACT.
