Three single-storey townhouses partially collapsed overnight in a residential estate in Khlong Chik subdistrict, Bang Pa-in district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, prompting emergency evacuations and safety cordons. The incident occurred in the early hours of 23 December 2025, with internal floors sinking by about 50 centimetres and walls and roof structures cracking and subsiding. No injuries were reported, as residents had moved belongings out after noticing warning signs.

The affected homes were part of a row of connected single-storey townhouses located beside Highway 308, with their rear boundaries adjacent to a flood protection wall for an industrial estate. Of the three damaged properties, two had already been cleared of belongings, while one was unoccupied at the time of the collapse. All three houses were rental properties and parking areas at the front did not show signs of subsidence.

Residents reported hearing unusual noises before the collapse. Ms Saifon, 42, the tenant of the first house to subside, said she heard loud banging sounds around 3pm on 22 December, initially believing neighbours were carrying out repairs. Later that evening, cracks appeared and continued to spread, prompting her to alert the property owner and begin moving belongings before the floor began to sink during the night.

Local authorities responded at around 2am after receiving reports from residents. Apichart Phanwichean, Mayor of Khlong Chik Municipality, led officials to secure the area and prevent public access due to the risk of further collapse. Engineers from the Provincial Office of Public Works and Town and Country Planning joined district officials to assess the damage once daylight allowed for a full inspection.

Officials confirmed that visible cracks had acted as an early warning, allowing tenants to evacuate in time. One neighbouring resident, Ms Wilai, 50, expressed concern that her adjoining home could also collapse due to shared roofing structures, despite no visible damage to her floor or walls. She said she feared having to relocate without knowing where she would stay.

Preliminary assessments suggest the building structure may not have met construction standards, though authorities stressed that this remains unconfirmed. Other houses within the estate were inspected and found to be structurally sound. For safety reasons, the damaged houses have been declared a restricted danger zone.

Khoasod reported that engineers from the provincial planning office will conduct a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the subsidence. Property owners have been instructed to demolish the collapsed homes to prevent further risk. Authorities said findings from the investigation would guide any further safety measures for nearby properties.
