A high-speed collision between a big bike and a motorcycle taxi in Saraburi province left two people dead and one seriously injured, with one victim thrown into a canal and carried downstream. The crash occurred on 24 December at 13:19, on Narong Road in Moo 6, Nong Yao subdistrict, Muang district. Emergency services confirmed the severity of the impact, which scattered the victims across the roadway and nearby waterway.

Police from Muang Saraburi station were alerted via the 191 emergency radio centre and rushed to the scene alongside volunteers from the Sawang Rattanatrai Thammasathan Saraburi Rescue Foundation. At the site, officers found a black-and-red Triumph big bike lying on the road with its engine still running. About 15 metres away, the rider, Mr Saranju, 42, was found dead at the scene with severe injuries.

Nearby, Ms Ketsuda, 29, was discovered critically injured and barely conscious. Rescue workers administered first aid before rushing her to Saraburi Hospital, where she remains in serious condition. A second motorcycle, a black Honda Wave with a yellow licence plate used as a motorcycle taxi, was also found badly damaged, with fuel leaking onto the road surface.

Rescue teams were informed that another victim had been thrown into a nearby irrigation canal. The man was later identified as Mr Anurak, 61, believed to be the motorcycle taxi driver. After an extensive search, his body was found floating around 100 metres downstream and although first aid was attempted, he died while being transported to Saraburi Hospital.

Police investigators examined the scene and collected photographic evidence while arranging to review CCTV footage from the area. The footage reportedly shows a car stopped on a bridge waiting to turn onto the main road, while a motorcycle carrying two people waited to cross. As the motorcycle began to turn after judging the road clear, a big bike travelling at high speed collided with it, causing the riders to be thrown in different directions.

Matichon reported that authorities said further analysis of the CCTV footage would be used to confirm the cause of the crash. Police will also review witness statements and traffic conditions on Narong Road at the time of the incident.

Just from the pictures, it is clear, the blame lies solely with the motorcycle taxi rider for turning into the path of the big bike (no matter what speed the big bike was doing). If the motorcycle taxi rider had not turned, there would not have been a collision. Sad for the loss of life no matter what.

That certainly depends on the rate of speed of the Triumph…

In any case, the Triumph was speeding and given the lack of depth of perception of many drivers have here, they’re probably both at fault. At least the innocent victim survived, as of this article anyway.

Poor depth of field perception too.

I beg to differ.

If the Triumph was travelling way in excess of the speed limit, the blame for the accident would lie with the Triumph rider. Speed kills.

It's called a lifesaver check when you do a right turn for a reason.

I thought the lifesaver check was looking over your shoulder to see what was coming from behind. This was a crash into oncoming traffic (probably through a failure to appreciate the Triumph's high speed).

Really? I thought the crash exactly that of an overtaking bike colliding with them in their side of the road as they made a right turn from the left-most lane? The pictures didn't make it too clear as I couldn't see any video etc.

Was the stream going faster than the big bike?

The motorbike taxi dude was silly.

The speeding big bike rider on that road was stupid.

Yeah, the motorcycle taxi turned into the Triumph's [oncoming] path.

Pretty clear that the bikes were travelling in opposite directions, not overtaking.

Looks like a collision but hard to make out directions. Kinda too stuck together.
