China and Vietnam have welcomed a joint statement and ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, describing dialogue and consultation as effective tools to address complex disputes and ease border tensions. The statements underline regional support for de-escalation and signal diplomatic engagement aimed at consolidating stability following the agreement.

China’s Foreign Ministry said on December 27 that Beijing supports the ceasefire and the joint statement, and stands ready to help create conditions for deeper communication between Cambodia and Thailand. A spokesperson said China views dialogue and consultation as an effective way to resolve complex disputes and reiterated its willingness to assist both sides.

The spokesperson confirmed that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is scheduled to meet his Cambodian and Thai counterparts in Yunnan. Military representatives from all three countries are also expected to participate in the meetings, indicating engagement at both diplomatic and defence levels.

China said it would play a constructive role in consolidating the ceasefire, rebuilding trust, improving bilateral relations and safeguarding regional peace. The comments reflect Beijing’s stated intention to support stability and confidence-building measures following the agreement.

Vietnam also welcomed the signing of the joint statement between Cambodia and Thailand, which was reached at the third special meeting of the General Border Committee. Hanoi said it supports the ceasefire and steps taken by both sides to de-escalate border tensions.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang said Vietnam believes Cambodia and Thailand will effectively implement the agreement and continue negotiations to resolve disputes peacefully. She said Vietnam expects discussions to proceed in line with international law, the United Nations Charter, ASEAN principles and the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.

Pham Thu Hang added that Viet Nam will closely monitor the situation and remain ready to engage in dialogue with both countries. She said Vietnam will contribute to ASEAN efforts related to the issue, including strengthening the ASEAN Observer Team.

Khoasod reported that the e statements from China and Vietnam highlight coordinated regional backing for the ceasefire and underline expectations that the agreement will be implemented as signed. They also point to continued diplomatic activity, including upcoming meetings and monitoring mechanisms, aimed at sustaining de-escalation and preventing renewed tensions.

I would not trust the chinese as far as I could throw one regarding anything to do with this conflict, they are involved up to their necks in the conflict,

This  has little to do with any border location issues, that is just a convenient distraction designed play on the nationalistic instincts the authorities have force fed the population for generations It works too, that's why there have been no public protests calling for the conflict to end

Look at the comments attached to any you tube video concerning the current cease fire, most Thais are not exactly in favour of it, most are calling for the Thai army to continue fighting until the cambodians are well and truly beaten

The added complication of a looming election here also has a bearing on the situation, no prospective leader can afford to be seen  making any concessions to the "despicable" cambodians "threatening Thai sovereignty"  that would be political suicide

The chinese involvement is a different matter  try watching the attached vid   its definitely food for thought

it gets to the reasons at around 12;40   but is worth watching from the beginning

Yeah, a 3-day ceasefire, will be a perfect opportunity for Cambodia to plant some more mines.
