A Thai naval officer paid 180,000 baht to a 23-year-old woman following her accusation of rape and being left on the trunk of his mini bus in Chon Buri. The woman filed a police complaint on December 30, recounting the incident that allegedly occurred in the early hours of December 28. She reported that the man, identified only as a naval officer, assaulted her after a night out.

The woman had been drinking with friends when they were joined by two men who claimed to be sailors. As she left, another man, believed to be associated with the group, offered her a ride, purportedly to her home. Instead of taking her to her destination, she says he diverted to a naval welfare accommodation where the assault allegedly took place.

She described her inability to escape and lack of consent, leading to a harrowing experience where she was assaulted in a mini truck. After the incident, the suspect reportedly drove her near her accommodation and left her naked before fleeing. A Facebook news page reported that the woman was driven several kilometers while exposed on the truck.

Royal Thai Navy spokesperson Parat Rattanachaiphan confirmed the suspect's status as a naval officer and stated a full investigation would be conducted. Parat assured the public of no special treatment or protection for the suspect, underscoring that legal actions would follow based on findings.

The victim withdrew her complaint after receiving a settlement of 180,000 baht from the suspect. This agreement was reported later by Matichon, suggesting a resolution between the parties involved. The investigation by the Royal Thai Navy is expected to continue regardless of the withdrawn complaint, reported The Thaiger.
