A 27-year-old man was killed in a serious road crash on New Year’s Day after his motorcycle struck the rear of a delivery rider’s bike and his body was then run over by an electric car in Bangkok. The incident occurred at about 1.00pm on 1 January 2026 on outbound Suksawat Road near Bang Pakok Market, in Rat Burana district. The death happened at the scene, causing disruption to traffic and prompting an immediate police and emergency response.

Police from Rat Burana Station said the crash involved at least two motorcycles and a private electric car. The victim was later identified as Mr Phornphot, aged 27, who was found lying on the roadway in the second lane of the three-lane road heading towards Rat Phatthana intersection. He suffered a large open wound to the forehead, severe head and facial injuries and abrasions across his body.

According to the initial investigation, Mr Narong, aged 31, who works as a food delivery rider, was travelling normally in lane two when Mr Phornphot’s motorcycle collided forcefully with the rear of his vehicle. Both motorcycles lost control and slid along the road surface. Mr Narong was able to get up and check on the other rider, noting heavy bleeding from the mouth and nose.

An electric passenger car, an Ion model in green, was found stopped nearby with its driver, a man aged approximately 40 to 45, waiting to give a statement. The driver told police he was travelling in lane three when he saw the motorcycles crash in front of him. He attempted to swerve but was constrained by a roadside barrier and felt the front left wheel run over an object before stopping immediately and calling rescue services.

Emergency responders from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation and forensic doctors from Siriraj Hospital attended the scene. The deceased’s cream-coloured Honda Lead motorcycle, without a licence plate, was found overturned, along with personal items scattered on the road. Mr Narong sustained injuries to his left hand and abrasions and was treated as an injured party.

Matichon reported that police stated that the body was sent for a detailed post-mortem examination at the Department of Forensic Medicine, Siriraj Hospital. All involved parties have been invited to Rat Burana Police Station for further questioning as investigators work to establish the precise sequence of events and determine legal responsibility under the law.
