You're not quite understanding. I already had two payment options set up for Shopee. By bank transfer was already set up, and by credit card, which I'd made the default payment option.

These apps are updated all the time, and things change with the updates. When I went to sign up for VIP, after agreeing to payments ($1.00, to be refunded later, and 49 B monthly) I then got a payment option page. Could not continue with any current option, it's not available. Could only choose from Pay and Pay Later to continue the VIP sign-up process, which opened up the can of worms I detailed earlier, because foreigners are not allowed to sign up for (or have?) Shopee Pay. (I assume that also includes Pay Later.)

So basically, on the current version of the app a foreigner is not able to get VIP. At least from my experience, it's a no go.

Not correct. I signed up for the VIP option 2 months ago with my Thai credit card as payment option. I have saved several hundred Baht in additional discounts since than.

OK, and that was two months ago. As of last weekend, the payment option page presented to me during the VIP sign-up forced a choice of either the Pay or Pay Later. Current payment method at the bottom of the page was greyed out, it could not be selected. There was no way to 'ungrey' it. (Otherwise I would have selected the current method.)

But I will give it try later using a computer, see if that does anything. Websites and apps of the same company sometimes operate or handle things a bit differently from each other.

And this is what I see trying right now to authorize VIP. I have a card as my default payment in Shopee, and it's not even showing.

In fact, the page is not responding to anything. (Maybe from last weekend's numerous attempts, my account is blocked for VIP???)

You have previously posted that you have FOREIGN credit card as default payment, maybe that doesn;'t work.

You join VIP from the Shopee app, not from the Shopee Pay app. Are you in Thailand and use a Thailand IP to connect to Shopee

Yrs, it's a foreign card, for my default payment. I have a local bank account set up as another payment option.

This is from the Shopee app, of course. I don't have the shopee pay app. (If I already had it, they wouldn't be asking me for all that stuff I detailed earlier to get a Pay account set up, right?)

I'm in Thailand and no, not using a VPN.

Try to close the app at the menu of your phone settings/apps/force close and than delete cache. Use a Thai card as default payment. It might fix the problem.

You know, it's OK. I just came on this thread to share my experience.

What bugged me is why I couldn't choose either one of my current payment options to 'activate' VIP, which I've detailed earlier. OK, this was my experience. Some above can say I'm 'full of it.' Whatever. Just can only say what my experience was.

Furthermore, as I said earlier, Shopee should state in the Shopee app that Pay--and have to assume Pay Later--are for Thais only. I'm fine with that. But not being aware of that info at all, I wasted a lot of time struggling with facial rec selfies and then passport photo upload failures before packing it in.

It would good for Shopee to inform unaware folks like myself trying to set up Pay that Pay is not available for foreigners. Say it, right there at the top of the Pay set-up page.

I'll take another crack later at trying to 'activate VIP'. Not really in a rush for it, no. Will change the default payment option to bank account before doing it, see if that changes anything.
