Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt announced a new initiative using the Traffy Fondue platform to address safety hazards caused by election signs. This move comes in response to numerous complaints about campaign signs obstructing roads and pedestrian pathways since the February 8 general election campaign began. A notable incident involved a sign falling onto a vehicle in Pathum Wan district, highlighting the need for secure installations.

Election sign-related issues have been increasingly reported on social media platforms. One TikTok video showed a campaign placard falling onto a car, though no damage occurred. The user criticized the sign's insecure setup and noted similar hazards along sidewalks, potentially endangering pedestrians. These concerns prompted the Bangkok administration to open a dedicated reporting channel on Traffy Fondue, accessible in both Thai and English.

Governor Chadchart emphasized that campaign signs must not obstruct traffic routes or visibility. Citizens encountering such issues can report them with location details and photos via the platform. The city administration promises prompt resolution to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow. Meanwhile, Bangkok has designated specific areas in all 33 constituencies for political parties to conduct public campaign events, encouraging collaboration with city managers.

Looking forward, as the election proceeds, the city focuses on maintaining open communication with citizens and political groups to ensure order and safety. This proactive measure is expected to minimize disruptions and maintain public safety during the election period, reported Bangkok Post.

Key Takeaways:

  • Bangkok opens Traffy Fondue channel for election sign hazards.

  • Campaign signs should not block traffic or pedestrian paths.

  • Citizens can report issues for prompt action by the city.
