UK threatened with sanctions if Starmer blocks Musk’s X

The UK has been warned it could face US sanctions if Sir Keir Starmer attempts to block Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, amid mounting concern over its AI tool generating sexualised images of women and children.

Anna Paulina Luna, a Republican Congresswoman and ally of Donald Trump, said she was drafting legislation that would allow the US to sanction the UK if the UK bans or restricts X under the Online Safety Act.

Luna, who sits on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said any move against the platform would amount to “a political war against Elon Musk and free speech”.

Her intervention follows revelations that users have been exploiting X’s AI chatbot, Grok, to create non-consensual sexual images, including images involving children.

The Internet Watch Foundation has confirmed it identified criminal child sexual abuse imagery, involving children aged between 11 and 13, which appeared to have been generated using Grok and shared on dark web forums.

Starmer said this week that “all options are on the table” to force compliance with UK law, including backing enforcement action by Ofcom.

On the plus side, no more arrests for naughty tweets! I'm hoping Starmer can escalate this to the point where the US sends in a team to snatch and jail him.

You would object to people posting child pornography on ‘X’ being arrested?

I'd like all Muslims removed from the UK.

And all pedos removed from the BBC.

Looking at all the Brits on this forum hating on Trump, I'd say we're beyond any help!

Musk should takedown child pornography himself unless he's a pal of that cave diving hero who he called a pedophile.

Takes one to know one.

Set a thief to catch a thief

Et al.

Simply respond in kind. Recognize that all British internet, television, and news publications are foreign agents and shut them down while cancelling the work visas of all non-US citizens working for them on US territory. Otherwise, the UK should do what the UK wants to do. If it wants to block X or any other platform from operating inside its borders, go ahead and so so. Any attempt, however, to extend UK law into US territory should be met with additional financial and trade sanctions.

Why are you making up things that are not in issue?

In kind? How about adhering to local laws?

I don't care what the UK does. Go ahead and ban it. It's their choice to do so. But in return, why should the US allow British media to operate in the US? Ban them, too. Frankly, the UK has bigger things to worry about. Right now, the only thing the UK should be doing is negotiating how they are going to surrender to the Islamists taking over their country and their media. Try to keep whatever privileges and items of everyday life they are willing to allow you. That is all you should be concerned with.

Deviation, John.

Yes the Muslim population is growing fast but they're still a minority by a long way.

Ai-

Following the July 2024 general election, there are a record 25 Muslim MPs in the UK Parliament. They constitute approximately 4% of the total 650 MPs in the House of Commons.

The Muslim MPs represent different political affiliations:

  • 18 Labour Party MPs

  • 4 Independent MPs (several of whom were elected on a pro-Palestinian stance)

  • 2 Conservative Party MPs

  • 1 Liberal Democrat MP

Muslims make up about 6.5% of the UK population, meaning they are still underrepresented in Parliament relative to their demographic size.

We should have a thread on that.

Oddly this isn’t it.

Wouldn't it be a ban on just Grok, rather than the whole of X ? Why would anyone support an app that allows and seems to encourage the sexualisation of children?

Elon's lackeys are backing a losing cause. Aint no one buying freedom of expression when it comes to kiddie porn. Elon';s shine wore off long ago.

Elon is doing what Elon has always done, making eye catching headlines for his business.

A little like the bosses of Ryanair when they announce, "We are considering charging people to use the toilet during flight." It causes an uproar and they back down, but were never going to implement it anyway. They play the media and the public like fools. After all, negative publicity is still publicity.

They'll probably end up filtering out the porn, but it would have made global news and gained a lot of new interest in his platform.

They are overrepresented in sex crimes, terrorist attacks and mysogyny

Wow, what would you say if someone said they wanted all Jews to be removed from the UK?

Do you realize you sound like Adolph Hitler?

LOL. You calling someone Hitler is not an insult, based on your posts.

On the other hand many europeans are getting fed up with all the censorship forced in by the European Union bureaucracy on free speech that may be politically controversal but on a lexical and syntax that remains legal. So not that I am a big Trump fan, but he does speak out on issues of concern, that most other politicians just turn a blind eye and prefer to censor (moderate).

That's all that comes into your mind? The issue is about Musk allowing children to be sexually exploited on his X platform in the UK. Did you miss that? Maybe they call that free speech in lala land.
