Going to Laos, Show 40,000 Minimum for finances.

Featured Replies

I've used an agent prior and when i went to extend on my own last year and I was told once i use an agent I'm kinda locked in on that until i leave and reenter. I'm aware I can take a flight to Laos and get a 90 day non-o. I've read that i can show 400k (i can't) OR 40,000 minimum (I can). I have VA compensation (Veterans Affairs) that's deposited into my Thai bank account. I also have a statement from the VA showing that I have payment and what i'm paid in US$.

Is printing 6-12 months of bank records and highlighting the deposits and letter from VA acceptable? I want to prepare myself prior to exiting Thailand. Thanks much!

What you say should be fine for getting the 90-day non-O visa from a Thai embassy. They will accept most any proof of funds.

But you haven't said which type of visa you are applying for. Are you applying for marriage (400,000 or 40,000 per month), or are you applying for retirement (800,000 or 65,000 per month)? I want to make sure you are expecting to show the correct amount.

Also, getting the visa from the embassy is the simple part. It's getting the extension in Thailand that isn't easy. You said you wanted to do it on your own, yet you don't have the required funds. How are you planning on getting the extension in 3 months after you return from with your new visa? Unless your embassy in Thailand provides income verification (I'll just assume you are American based on what you wrote), which the US embassy does not provide, you only have a single option to get your extension. That is proof of funds in your Thai bank account. That means unless you have 400,000 baht for a marriage extension, or 800,000 for a retirement extension, that is in your Thai bank account for TWO FULL MONTHS when you apply for the extension, you will not be getting any extension. You cannot use any of the proof you wrote about for an extension in Thailand. The immigration office does not care about your VA compensation statement or any other paperwork you have. They will only accept embassy certified income for your first extension, or funds in your Thai bank account.

You won't be able to use income would need to show funds in bank account.

In addition the Non O provides 90 day stamp.

You cannot use income method for first extension (no embassy letter)

Your option would be 400k in Thai bank seasoned for 2 months.

You do realize the 400k is for marriage.

Assume that the agent obtain Non O retirement + extension.

What is current situation?

In Thailand on extension (retirement)?

When does, current stamp expire?

My little piece of advice would be to get it from the horse's mouth ........
