Thailand Considers Social Media Ban for Under-16s

Featured Replies

None of this is even about 'protecting the children' it is all about bringing in by the backdoor digital ID..once they have that precedent set everyone no matter what age will have to identify themself to use all online services..thus the government will know exactly who is who and what they think and say online can be monitored and 'regulated' 100%

needless to say this is very bad..but there are some who think its the best thing since sliced bread and will solve societies issues..nope you will just be enslaved in the digital panopticon.

So does that allow kids access to all of YouTube, or just a subset of videos marked suitable for children? Or maybe all of YouTube except content specifically marked as not suitable for children?

Apparently YouTube have ' channels' that are for kids as a separate app to the main YouTube app.

That looks to me like channels for small children, no better than a total ban. So 12, 13, 14, 15 year olds would still be denied access to a vast range of brilliant educational material. Actually, I’m hoping that it will increase computer skills in that age group as they figure out ways to circumvent the ban.

Not would still be. They are. In Australia that is.

My eleven year old grandson put his year of birth as 1999 when he signed up a couple of years ago and continues to watch YouTube as normal.
