Police in Saraburi province are investigating the discovery of a human skeleton found in roadside scrubland, with initial findings suggesting a possible link to illegal power cable theft in the area. The remains were discovered near a high-voltage electricity pole, raising concerns about public safety and ongoing criminal activity.

On 11 January 2026, officers from Ban Mo Police Station were alerted to the find by workers drilling an oil pipeline for a private company. The discovery was made at around 4.00 pm in tall grass approximately 10 metres from a concrete road on the Saphan Mai–Saphan 12 route in Moo 10, Ban Khrua subdistrict, Ban Mo district, Saraburi. Rescue volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were called to assist at the scene.

Police said the remains were skeletal and believed to have been there for at least two months. A skull and scattered bones were found across the area, with some parts missing, possibly due to scavenging animals. Investigators noted that the location was close to the base of a high-voltage power pole.

At the scene, officers found evidence suggesting interference with electrical infrastructure. Ground wires and power cables showed clear cut marks exposing copper wiring. Nearby, police recovered a fertiliser sack modified into a shoulder bag containing wire-cutting pliers, a spanner, a screwdriver and a utility knife.

Initial assessments suggest the remains belong to a male, although the age has not yet been determined. Investigators from Ban Mo Police Station, together with village headman Supol Limpattana of Moo 10, said the discovery may be linked to a missing person report filed on 13 October 2025. The report concerns a 72-year-old man, identified only as Mr S, who disappeared from a rented room without a house number in Moo 9, Ban Khrua subdistrict.

Police stated that Mr S had no fixed occupation after leaving his job as a factory security guard and had displayed suspicious behaviour. The presence of tools at the scene has reinforced suspicions of attempted cable theft. A Ruamkatanyu Foundation official said the deceased was “certainly not acting with good intentions towards the power cables” at the site.

Kaoded reported that the skeleton has been sent to Saraburi Hospital for DNA testing and a detailed post-mortem examination to try to determine the cause of death. Police said the results will be used to confirm whether the remains belong to the missing man and whether the death is connected to organised cable theft. Investigations are continuing.
