Hello all,

Just checked the schedules of the new airline Nok Air (Fly like a bird !) and discovered that they make it possible to leave in BKK on day 1 at 06:00, arrive at Udon Thani at 07:05. Then take a bus to Vientiane where you should arrive with ample time to complete your business at the embassy. Collect your visa the next day at 13:00, take a bus to Udon Thani with plenty of time to take the 18:15 flight to BKK.

Cost: BKK - Udon Thani: 498 B (cheaper than the bus !)

Udon Thani - BKK on the evening flight: 998 B

Slightly more expensive than by bus or train, but you save a lot of time, not to forget the boring bus or trainjourney.

Thats cheap.........last time i did the run up to Vietienne , Thai Airways were charging 1500b one way up to Udorn and that was 3 years ago! Just before you book have a look at this http://www.mangosauce.com/archives/000278.html LMAO

if you think thats cheap, check out Airasia, even cheaper, but reserve early.

If you have laos visa already, you can board the international bus directly from udon to Vientian. but if you don't you have to go to Nong Kai friendship bridge to get it and then take tuk tuk into town.
