Which rule is it supposed to have broken? It doesn't seem to have broken any of them. The overall tenor of the thread was that one should obey the law!

It was irritating and would have got more so and would have diverted away from anything Thai related and wasted several pages.

You're right, the overall tenor of the thread is that one should obey the law and that was aptly conveyed and should go without saying anyway.

I know I'm not a moderator but it's my guess that George or the Doc would have said something along those lines.
