Mandelson Under Police Probe Over Leaks to Epstein

Metropolitan Police investigate Mandelson for alleged misconduct

Peter Mandelson, former Labour minister and ex-US ambassador, is facing a criminal investigation by the Metropolitan Police. He stands accused of sharing sensitive government information with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. These allegations stem from a series of emails released by the US Department of Justice, which suggest Mandelson forwarded market-sensitive data to Epstein while serving as business secretary under Gordon Brown.

Mandelson has not publicly responded to these claims, but sources say he maintains that he acted within the law and was not financially motivated. A spokesperson for the UK government has promised full cooperation with the ongoing police investigation.

The scandal has prompted Mandelson to announce his intention to resign from the House of Lords. Earlier this week, both the Scottish National Party and Reform UK referred Mandelson to Scotland Yard. Subsequently, the UK government forwarded material to the police after reviewing emails linked to the 2008 financial crisis.

Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown has also intervened, writing to Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley. Brown provided relevant information from September that questions the authenticity of Mandelson's correspondence with Epstein regarding asset sales during the financial collapse. He condemned the alleged actions as unpatriotic and damaging during a time of national economic crisis.

Met Police Commander Ella Marriott confirmed the probe into a 72-year-old former government minister for misconduct in public office. The investigation follows a flood of reports, including a referral from the UK government. The police will continue to examine all pertinent information and have declined to comment further during the ongoing inquiry.

This case adds another dimension to Mandelson’s controversial association with Epstein. It raises serious concerns about the potential compromise of government operations at a crucial time. The allegations have cast a shadow over Mandelson’s legacy and underscore the gravity of the accusations within governmental frameworks.

While the investigation progresses, it highlights the importance of maintaining integrity in public office. The outcome could have far-reaching implications for transparency and accountability among public officials. The involvement of high-profile figures further underscores the case's significance as the public and media closely monitor developments.

Key Takeaways

  • Mandelson faces claims of leaking sensitive data to Epstein.

  • Allegations involve details related to the 2008 financial crash.

  • Former PM Brown and others call for thorough investigations.

Looks like Mandleson is guilty of treason... toss his pathetic limp backside in the Tower along with all those that conspired with him.

This could, hopefully, being down Starmer.

This fresh scandal directly implicates Starmer's judgment, as he appointed Mandelson as US ambassador in late 2024 despite known Epstein risks, only sacking him in September 2025.

The February 2026 revelations (leaked sensitive info, financial ties) have prompted a police probe,

Mandelson's Labour resignation and Lords exit, and Starmer's U-turn calling for his peerage stripping.

It's fueling questions like "What was Starmer thinking?" in media and public discourse,

portraying him as out-of-touch with "establishment" ties amid voter struggles on immigration and cost-of-living.

Another example (as if one was needed) that Starmer has unbelievably bad judgement and is a terrible politician with the morals of an alley cat.

How much longer can Starmer keep brushing off one disaster after another?

Hopefully this will be the straw log that breaks the camel's back.

Starmer will be gone by next week. Wes Streeting is tainted by Mandelson, meaning the former deputy Prime Minister, Claire Rayner, will be PM. There won't be a snap election, because Turkeys don't vote for Christmas. Reform all at sea, not sure what to do.

Careful what you wish for. The political fallout spread originally from over the otherside of the Atlantic. The police investigation is likely to reveal uncomfortable truths for US politicians, those GOP politicians who mysteriously welcomed Mandelson's appointment as Ambassador. You have the Epstein files, and now the Mandelson Papers, following the Tory Leader's "Humble Address". A "Humble Address" is a petition to the King, which if passed by the House, binds the ministers into the release and debate of documents. It was used to reveal the economic assessments the government had carried out in relation to Brexit. The Americans won't have control about what comes out.

That an humble Address be presented to His Majesty, that he will be graciously pleased to give directions to require the Government to lay before this House all papers relating to Lord Mandelson’s appointment as His Majesty’s Ambassador to the United States of America, including but not confined to the Cabinet Office due diligence which was passed to Number 10, the Conflict of Interest Form Lord Mandelson provided to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), material the FCDO and the Cabinet Office provided to UK Security Vetting about Lord Mandelson’s interests in relation to Global Counsel, including his work in relation to Russia and China, and his links to Jeffrey Epstein, papers for, and minutes of, meetings relating to the decision to appoint Lord Mandelson, electronic communications between the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff and Lord Mandelson, and between ministers and Lord Mandelson, in the six months prior to his appointment, minutes of meetings between Lord Mandelson and ministers in the six months prior to his appointment, all information on Lord Mandelson provided to the Prime Minister prior to his assurance to this House on 10 September 2025 that ‘full due process was followed during this appointment’, electronic communications and minutes of all meetings between Lord Mandelson and ministers, Government officials and special advisers during his time as Ambassador, and the details of any payments made to Lord Mandelson on his departure as Ambassador and from the Civil Service.

Much of the sorry state of the world today is due to the events of 2008, and the acts of American financiers that caused it. Leading to craven, incompetant government throughout the West, including governments who's leaders personally profited from the bailouts, Russian aggression, Arab blue-on-blue atrocity and global destabilisation. 2008 may also have created the conditions for the COVID-19 pandemic, through the buying up of Chinese farms by Goldman Sachs and others, causing small holders to farm in more remote areas, increasing the likelyhood of contact with emerging infectious agents, which is still the most likely cause of the pandemic, compounding with poor Chinese BSL-2 containment (not, not BSL-4) and a Wuhan which was an integral part of the global supply chain.

And all roads lead to a weasel of a man sitting in paranoid seclusion in Moscow, with an enormous chip on his shoulder about losing that KGB job in Germany.

I'm inclined to agree with you.

He was literally shaking at PMQ's. He had to steady his shaking hand by holding it still with the other hand. He's a mess. He's toast, and he knows he is.

Probably best for Labour if he goes soon! Sacrificing Morgan McSweeney might be enough, although future disclosures may make his position untenable. Angela Rayner made her intentions clear in yesterday's debate. Go girl!

There are more skeletons in Starmer's closet, mark my words. He'd be best to go now.

I don't think she's repaid the tax she dodged yet.

What a bunch of reprobates Labour are. Degenerates. They make The Tories look angelic. At least Tory scandals centered on living room curtains, not beef curtains.

I quite like Starmer, he's not as bad as some here make out, but hope there is a general election soon and Reform get in.

You're really casting aspersions at alley cats here.
