Medium - long term storage facility

Featured Replies

Is there such a thing in Pattaya? I’ll be making the move later this year and have a household of furniture and - more importantly - a book collection of around 2000 volumes that will need to be parked somewhere. I’ll eventually be moving into my house in Jomtien but likely not until early 2027) and want a place to keep these safe and secure.

As they are books and irreplaceable I’d ideally need something temperature controlled so they don’t get damaged by humidity.

Possible or am I dreaming?

I don't know of any temperature-controlled storage places in Pattaya--doesn't mean there aren't any. We have used U Store It Pattaya several times and are currently storing furniture and household items with them while we build our new house. We have had very good experiences using them.

When we used them the first time, they came and got the furniture, art work, and household items we were keeping after the sale of our home. They carefully wrapped them up and took them to their storage facility, where they unloaded the truck and put the items in the storage room we had rented. When we had the new house ready, they loaded the items and brought them to our new house. Nothing broke or got damaged with either move. We didn't have to do anything except point to what we wanted stored. When they returned the items to our new place, they put the furniture exactly where we wanted it in each room. Again, just pointing on our part. How easy is that?

We are repeating the process now. They have several sizes of storage rooms--which are sort of like a 1-car garage wth a metal door that raises up. Might be worth it to give them a call--they might have a storage option I'm not aware of that could work for your books.

U-Store-It does have a few units with climate control that was installed by a previous customer with precious goods to store (his wine collection). If they're still available, the OP could be lucky, or he could discuss installing climate control with the business owner.

We stored furniture and excess stuff in two back-to-back units for over two years and can attest to the care and professionalism of their crews as commented by @newnative .

Have fun....

I've used this place before, they were great. I'm not sure how good their temperature controlled units are, I'd have a careful look. I only needed to store a motorbike and furnishings. Two thumbs up for my needs.

You do need climate control for books and photos IMO, you could try to find a cheap room for rent with A/C....

Actually that’s a damn good idea if I can’t find anything else. And actually I wouldn’t necessarily need aircon in that instance. A decent dehumidifier running would like suffice.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
