The Effect of the Election

Featured Replies

Opinions please from other experienced observers. What does the election mean or what do the results portend in terms of the following:

  1. Weed

  2. The Border

  3. Political Stability

  4. The Value of the Baht

I would be interested in some views.

My Thai wife, age 60, is happy with the results because she believes Anutin is supported by the military, which she generally prefers to the current Thai political parties.

Predictions:
Weed - resumes its stalled upward trajectory. Better quality, better lounges, and several more awesome festivals a year.
Border - harsh measures on "Uncle" incoming, but no death blow. It's very politically popular in the rural areas with the older voters, so why not.
Political Stability - No more radical changes, but only if they reign in the power-mad head of the Bank of Thailand who is currently in a manic stage.
Baht - they can't sustain the strength much longer. The dead economy, and a warning sign from the bond market last year where the offering wasn't well-received, means they will have to print a bunch of money to cover the budget deficit.

Corruption and Air Pollution - won't get better, probably get worse.
