Zia Yusuf Proposes ‘British ICE’ to Slash Illegal Immigration

Reform UK’s new home affairs spokesman, Zia Yusuf, has unveiled a sweeping plan to overhaul Britain’s approach to immigration, law enforcement, and national security. Speaking in Dover, Kent, Yusuf described immigration as a “national security emergency” and accused both major parties of ignoring threats to public safety and societal cohesion.

Central to Yusuf’s vision is a domestic version of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The proposed UK Deportation Command would detain up to 24,000 illegal migrants at a time and process nearly 300,000 removals annually. Former military bases would be converted into temporary detention centres, with daily deportation flights — up to five a day — carrying migrants back to their countries. The scheme would require around £2.5 billion in investment and aims to achieve “net negative immigration.”

Other measures include scrapping Indefinite Leave to Remain, cutting welfare for foreign nationals, and freezing visas for countries that refuse to repatriate their citizens. Yusuf also plans to overhaul counter-extremism policies, ban the Muslim Brotherhood, and block conversions of churches into mosques, framing these moves as essential to “protect Britain’s Christian heritage.”

On law enforcement, Yusuf proposes stricter stop-and-search powers, intensive neighbourhood patrols, and a shift away from cultural displays, such as police TikTok content and Pride-themed vehicles, to focus on crime reduction. The Reform plan also calls for the fastest prison-building programme in decades to address the knife crime epidemic.

Countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Syria could face visa restrictions unless they cooperate with deportations, while Yusuf criticised Labour for targeting only a small set of African countries. He vowed to use all state powers to secure the UK’s borders and uphold the rule of law.

Key Takeaways

  1. Mass Deportation Programme: Yusuf plans a UK ICE-style agency, detaining 24,000 migrants at once and deporting up to 300,000 per year, using former military sites as temporary centres.

  2. Immigration and Visa Crackdown: Indefinite Leave to Remain would be scrapped, welfare cut for foreign nationals, and visas frozen for countries that refuse to repatriate their citizens.

  3. Law, Security, and Cultural Measures: Knife crime, extremism, and perceived threats to British culture are targeted through stricter policing, prison expansion, Prevent reform, and bans on the Muslim Brotherhood and mosque conversions.
